Very disappointing. After reading reviews I decided to book the superior room with lounge the room was very basic with the lounge being a separate part to the room itself which was very cold and in my opinion no use at all there were no small toiletries in the bathroom at all which even the most basic bnbs have the shower was mouldy and there were stains on the floor at the back of the toilet the bathroom was freezing there wasn't even a heated towel rail glad we only stayed 1 night as we were not going to use the shower the breakfast was very overcooked with burnt sausage the reason I gave 2 stars was 1 the staff were nice and attentive and the bed was clean and comfortable otherwise I would rate it as a budget hotel worth around £60 per night certainly not worth the £110 we paid!

Garlic mushrooms with no garlic, nachos with no cheese sauce, salsa or jalapeños. Frozen prawns. Chips ok

We stayed here for a two night break October 2021 in a small twin room with en-suite facilities. Don’t be put off by the ‘small’ adjective. This was an ample sized room for two people. Very clean and comfy beds. Some things needed tweaking - the toilet roll holder came off the wall when we touched it. All the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We noticed some of the decor in the bar and lounge area needed sorting out ( maybe still undergoing work??) but that didn’t deter from our stay. The food was tasty without a long wait and the Timothy Taylor’s Landlord was excellent. Bit disappointing no specials listed on the Saturday night ( as there were on the Friday night) but after enquiring we were offered steaks - very enjoyable. We would recommend going here for a stay. Thanks everyone at the Red Well Inn.

I used the Red Well Inn for a two night, single room stop over with breakfast. The room was clean and well appointed and the breakfast full English (full range of other options available) was good.Lovely staff. Perfectly located with good carparking for those that don't want to be right in the centre of Barnard Castle.

Fab food and a good price. The food is worth the wait if busy. The staff were kind, helpful and made me feel very at ease as I have hidden disabilities and an assistance dog. They even have me water for the dog. Thank you

My parent and I were staying at a local caravan site so didn't stay at the Inn but we did go there for a meal on our first night. The setting inside was quiet and pleasent, the food was delicious and the waitresses were friendly, and attentive. All in all a very good expierence.

Great pub and Inn! The staff are friendly and professional, the room is nicely decorated and modern, but still keeping the pub rooms vibes. The pub is very welcoming, with a great selection of drinks and food. The Chicken Parmo is excellent, juicy, wrapped in crunchy breadcrumbs, with melted cheese and sauce, and the potato chips were perfect; and the Chocolate Brownie is all you expect to find in the best restaurants in London. Sweet, chocolatey brownie, with an amazing custard.I can't wait for breakfast tomorrow! Now, bedtime in a very cosy bed!Edit: breakfast was incredible!

Great place to stay. Management & Staff very friendly, helpful and hard working. Covid regs strictly adhered to. Room was spotless and well equipped. The evening meal was excellent and plentiful as was the breakfast. The bar is well stocked &the beer well kept. It's about a mile into the centre and is down hill 50% of the way so if you're not a strong walker then think about using a local taxi.
