The Royal George in County Durham

Food was beautiful, steak pie and chips man, very nice.

Driving along the A19 looking for somewhere to eat and found this pub on Google.The reviews looked good and so we turned off.The food was lovely and a great price £9.95 for a roast.Ashley our waitress was helpful and attentive. She even went as far as finding out where the chepest/ nearest fuel was to be found.Definitely reccomend a visit. A very friendly place.

My favourite place for food and in my view the best in East Durham. Never had a bad meal so I keep going back. Staff are great too!

Amazing staff and they use vegan butter for their veg. I could actually have a wonderful Sunday dinner out. ( I'm dairy free rather than vegan). Lamb was beautiful.

My wife and I just fancied fish and chips but none of the fish shops in hidden or oeterlee were open so we decided to go to the George as we hadn't been there for a while and we weren't disappointed even though the restaurant and bar were very full and very busy , we got a drink straight away and our meal came shortly after with delicious good sizes fish home cooked chips and wonderful mushy peas needless to say we will be returning shortly cheers .

We were driving along the A19 and looking for a place to lunch and found this one. At first we were not sure about the restaurant at it is located in a residential area and looked closed.But what a surprise inside ! Well decorated (looked freshly refurbished), welcoming staff, a good choice on the menu, food was very good and homemade. Fresh chips which were very tasty !Very good value for money. We got 3 generous mains and paid around 28£ !I would recommend and be back if we are on the A19 again !

Best pint of Landlord I've had in years. Delicious!. Had burger & chips to eat. The burger was a bit overcooked for my taste, but was nice nevertheless. The chips were fantastic. Proper chips!

We had a private room upstairs, very nice, quiet, waiter service great , kept checking on us for drinks, great menu , food delicious, the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had , had a great meal

Now, this was a recommendation from a friend and I must say this was quite a delicious little restaurant in Shotton Collery. We went for the Sunday Dinner, obviously the had quite a good selection and not just pork, also lamb,chicken, beef with all the goodies 😊. I had the lamb Sunday dinner and my misses had the beef one, both melt in your mouth honestly! Also the deserts are too die fooooor🤤🤤!!! We really want to go to during the week to check out the other goodies as on Sunday they only serve Sunday Dinner as it is the English tradition 🙂. Good food, good service, will definitely recommend!
