Absolutely appalling service received here Friday 26th Feb. Very few staff, waiting at least 30minutes for a drink, app orders not serviced at all, specifically Jake the assistant manager had a disgusting attitude and overall persona. Would not recommend, will not return, terrible.

Visited here on the 10th Feb. We walked in, all the tables were clean and the whole bar looked so beautiful. We fancied some small plates so went for the chicken gyoza's, chorizo bites, nachos, sweet potato fries & the shawarma tacos. Every item we had was sooo tasty! What stood out for us was the service! We were served by Danielle, who couldn't do enough for us. Smiley service at the till then warm check backs, running back and forward to get us extra sauces etc!We only live in Newcastle so we will definitely be making a return to this slug and lettuce asap!

I spent 20mins waiting at the bar for drinks, and then couldn't sit at a table as they were all reserved for diners. Spent another 20 minutes standing, and none of the 10 or so tables that were reserved ever became occupied. Needs more bar staff to speed up service at busy times. Eventually went next door to the bishop's mill and was served in around 3mins. And was able to find a table

They were good. Even changed the drinks for the people who didn't like the list. They were so busy, but so helpful too us

Ordered food and it was disgusting, cold chips and instant 'mash'. I was also served my food on a plate that obviously had not been washed as there was gravy and peas stuck to the bottom an all over the side. Will definately not be returning

Ended up in here one night a few weeks back with a few friends as everywhere else was full up while here was mostly empty (should have been warning enough) the restaurant is very pretty and well laid out but that's about the most enjoyable part. There is a good choice of food but quality is at best below average but the prices don't really match the quality. The drinks are the biggest disappointment, if you get the deals it brings the prices down to an ok amount but buying individually are definitely not worth the money. I'm an absolute lightweight but after drinking 5 cocktails, non of which really tasted that great or strong, i didn't even feel slightly tipsy. There are definitely much better places to pick from in Durham, I wouldn't really recommend this place unless it's a last resort.

I have previously been to another Slug & Lettuce in Newcastle, which has been a very calm and enjoyable outing. This is what we were expecting when my boyfriend booked a table for my birthday at this venue in Durham.Instead of this atmosphere I felt like I had walked into the Mile Castle on a Saturday Night. The venue was so packed that we could not find the table section. We decided to go to the bar as we could not find a member of staff to let us know where we would be sitting. While we waited at the bar I had a look around and noticed all the tables were full so it didn't look like they had reserved a table for us in the first place. We were a bit annoyed as my partner had paid £20 deposit to reserve this table which he was advised he would get back. When we finally got to the front of the bar, the bar man was so lovely and made our drinks for us.We tried to to explain what had happened as it was way too loud so we decided to leave it rather than waste more time.Wouldn't recommend this bar for atmosphere but they have friendly staff at the bar and on the door + the cocktails were pretty nice.

Really like it here, looks amazing inside! Staff are very nice and polite which is the (key) to a 5 star rating. We had 2 for 1 on the cocktails which included all cocktails on the menu. I highly recommend calling here:-)

First time at a Slug & Lettuce and what an amazing visit. Mark and Jess were just fabulous, we didn't want to leave. The food was wonderful and the cocktails were the best I have ever had. Can't wait to go back. Thank you so much, we will be recommending to everyone. :)

We had bottomless brunch here on a Friday afternoon. The staff were lovely especially Jess and Mark, and we had a lovely time and the drinks just kept on flowing .
