This is rare pub indeed. A drinking establishment that genuinely understands the meaning of hospitality. Upon arrival I was immediately made to feel welcome. The service was exceptional. The food was good and there was lovely seating area out front..For those that enjoy politics and trivia, jacque chirac and Tony Blair once enjoyed an afternoon on the lash here and there's a blue plaque to prove it. We'll done to all the amazing staff.

What a fantastic find. Only 15 mins from home. Staff are extremely friendly and polite. Very high standard of customer service. Food was amazing. I can high recommend the belly pork with Stornoway blackpudding. Gorgeous building in a lovely setting.

An absolutely top-class meal for two. The chips cooked in beef dripping are exceptional. Biggest portion of cheese and biscuits I have ever seen, more than enough for 2 to share. Highly recommended.

Fantastic food, and lovely rooms at great prices. The staff are brilliant and the bar has a great selection of local cask ales to choose from. Highly recommend

The County is a hidden gem. Nestled in a quiet village, it overlooks the village green. Rooms spacious and well decorated, I've yet to find a more spotless hotel. Fantastic breakfast and very good choices. Definitely a place to visit again.

Early evening meal at the County, the pub was very busy, but food was ordered abs brought to us without too much of a wait, so much choice and allergies catered for. Decided to pick Asparagus with poached egg in a hollandaise sauce which was spot on and for a main course I plumped for Belly pork with black pudding served on apple and potato mash. Decided a pudding was too much the choice was very tempting.

Fantastic culinary experience………My wife and I, along with our dear friends visited The County restaurant, 13 The Green, Aycliffe Village, County Durham today, Saturday the 19th of March (2022). As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted by a lovely waitress/ hostess called Claire. She showed us to our table , gave us some menus and took our drinks order. We all chose different starters and mains. Kieran, our waiter, brought our meals and we were not disappointed. Why?, because:1) The food was well presented2) The plates were red hot3) The food was piping hot4) The food was excellent, tasty and plentiful5) The waiter/waitress ( Claire and Kieran) were super friendly, polite and professional, nothing was too much trouble.6) The pub/restaurant was spotless, warm and inviting.A truly fantastic culinary experience. Well done to all at The County restaurant.
