Afternoon Tea at Rockliffe Hall in Darlington

Stayed here for a 4 night treat last week. The hotel and spa and most of the staff are wonderful, they can’t do enough to make your stay special. The disappointment for us was the dining. The menu in the hotel restaurant did not change all week and with only 3 choices this was very limiting. They did offer an alternative tasting menu but much from the set menu was repeated. Not really good enough for this standard of hotel and the price of staying here.

Had the best time. Greeted by Ben on arrival, lovely gentleman who was so helpful and explained the facilities. Room was beautiful and the spa is amazing. Breakfast was outstanding, no problem with my dietary requirements. Service first class. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, posh, delicious food but expensive! However you don't come somewhere like this for it to be cheap. Bit annoying that you can't have any drinks in the spa unless you pay extra to go in the garden spa.The orangery and main hall dining seems a little pretentious and expensive for the amount given, however the clubhouse is beautiful, tasty and priced appropriately. Room was lovely, however in my opinion beds were too soft.

Was surprised that the spa has not kept up the standards it had when it first opened, tatty bathrobes & towels with holes in surley a place of this stature could afford new robes and towels, first impressions count and let's face it you do pay for the privilege. Average massage however staff are polite and friendly and nice food. Not 1st class in the spa for the amount you pay.

Had a fantastic meal. 6 course taster experience absolutely lovely. Staff excellent so helpful. Only little problem was climbing in the bath for a shower, very high. Expensive but what a treat.

I’ve been a spa member here for years and so is my brother and some of our family members. Love this place, it’s an unreal escape from the day to day. I regularly have afternoon tea with friends or meals in the club house with the family, even had spikes bar to ourselves for a Christmas Day experience which was sensationally set out for us. All the experiences have been well and I think the staff here do a wonderful job despite at times in pressured circumstances such as covid which really hit the restaurants here when there were absences yet the resort did everything they could to keep the place open during the less restricted periods. During the holidays we love to stay at the Armstrong Apartments, I’ve tried the suites and the tip lady rooms but for me the apartments with breakfast in the orangery are the ideal. I think I will be a life long member here because of what the resort gives me in terms of peace, mindfulness and tranquillity. Not to mention how beautiful the place is! How hard the staff work to make it a great place to escape to. Shout out to Sophie on the spa reception team, and James in the office, over the years I’ve been here Sophie consistently greets me well with such positivity, exchanges pleasant words, always handles requests promptly and shows a lot of kindness. James is great too, every booking experience he makes so easy and remembers the preferences and is always pleasant when speaking or exchanging emails. Both an absolute asset to the place! Amongst many other incredible members of the RH team.

Amazing place to stay and relax. The staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. The spa is perfect, easy to find your way around, chill out and totally unwind. The cherry on the cake is the food. Wow, from the beetroot appetisers to the fillet steak mains, each dish was meticulously prepared and full of flavour. I can't recommend Rockcliffe Hall highly enough.

Absolutely fantastic Christmas pressie from my other half! Spent a full day with 1 hour couples massage and a meal at the spa restaurant. The facilities are beautiful and immaculate. Staff friendly and helpful. Absolutely spot on 👍

We went for afternoon tea party of 5. 4 adults and 1 child aged 6. From start to finish the property, facilities, food and staff were 5 star. The attention to detail that was there and that nothing was too much for them. Ruth who was looking after us was exceptional I cannot rate this place high enough i would give more stars if I could

Probably one of the best venues in the UK i have stayed at. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and the place has a lovely atmosphere about it. The fit and finish of the rooms is second to none and nothing seems to be enough for the staff. The spa facilities are excellent, clean and well maintained and the spa treatments are reasonably priced. I’ll be going again. Thanks to your team for looking after us this weekend.
