We came here today with our dog, the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating; bringing water for the dog. Lovely team and so polite. The service and food both excellent. I have nothing bad to say! Thanks guys!

The staff were all wonderful, the entire place was spotlessly clean and you could sense that it was run properly -no half measures or "that'll do", it was wonderful. The food is worth going for on it's own! They catered for my very specific dietary requirements without me having the say - there were suitable choices on the menu. Make sure you book a table as it is popular with locals too. Our 6yr old felt very at home with his sofa bed. Parking was easy out front. Breakfast as delicious as dinner was. Restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Shower was hot and powerful. Family room was large compared to big chain hotels.

Lovely meal, staff attentive without been overbearing. Clean and plenty of space between tables for wheelchair use.

They managed to squeeze us in for the Valentines menu. Staff are really nice especially the host who booked us in, ambiance is top draw and the food is beautiful. All for a reasonable cost, loved it that much we are going back this week.

Really was looking forward to a lovely meal for a special birthday with friends. There was 16 of us so all ordered and paid separately. Hubby ordered fish pie it was dry. I ordered the risotto it was also dry tasted like they had been cooked the day before and heated up. Hubby got the crumble that was burnt he offered me to taste a bit and I could smell that it was burnt before I even tasted it, and the smallest amount of custard in a jug came with it which was like pouring milk. They charged us for 3 deserts when we only had 2. Disappointed not sure if we'd return again 😕

Very disappointed with standard of service . We booked for lunch at 14:30. On booking in, we overheard a barman apologising to another customer for being short staffed ( Covid). When my side dish arrived, it should have been roasted root veg, but it was a mixture of plain veg. No apology was given or explanation by the waitress even though we questioned it. We were presented with menus at 15:30 and told if we wanted dessert to order it then as the kitchen wanted to close . When we said we wanted to wait a bit longer, we were told we had to order then. We were very disappointed with the attitude of the waitress . I can appreciate that staffing was a problem, but at no point was it apologised for. We decided to leave without dessert or coffee. We also noticed a Facebook post on The Devenport page posted at 16:00 saying a limited menu was available. What was supposed be a leisurely lunch cost 63.00 ( with wine) and we were in the hotel for just over an hour. Not good enough.

Great value steak night, starters were nice although a spoon to eat chowder with always helps 🙈, otherwise good service. Still don't agree with adding a service charge to the bill but it was pointed out by the staff which doesn't always happen so was happy to pay it.
