Fox and Hounds in Darlington

Great food and service, nice and quiet in the afternoon.

Very disappointing return visit marred by apathetic service and lukewarm food. However, the main reason this pub will never see us or our friends again is having the phone put down on me by an arrogant and unreasonable staff member after I had queried why we had been charged full price for a vegetarian meat free Sunday Lunch. An absolute rip-off and a practice quite unique to this particular establishment.

Just called in for a couple of drinks after walking locally. Lovely tidy pub inside, friendly staff. Friendly locals. Saw someone eating and the food looked really nice, if we had been Hungary we would have eaten there. Only gave it 4 stars as we didn't try the food but may well have achieved 5 stars had we eaten. Also nice outside space and little playground for the kids. Definitely worth a visit from first impressions.

Food here is amazing and the staff even more so. Very polite servers and happy to go the extra mile for you.

Had the smaller lunch of parmo, chips and salad. Enjoyed it all and would recommend at £8.50. Very good value.

Lovely friendly staff and a nice, clean place with a welcoming feel. Food came quickly, was good quality, hot and good portions. Only negative I could name was the meat in the beef burger was a bit like hamburger meat which I don't prefer and the bun had a burnt smell and taste from the chargrill. Sides were lovely and homemade and the mussels were gorgeous.

Nice meal in smart but comfortable surroundings. Also good menu for smaller appetites, which leaves room for a dessert which I can thoroughly recommend. Staff also very friendly and good service.

Lovely place with very beautiful grounds. If you have children with you, then they'll be in for a treat as there is a play area with swings and slides and a children's menu that includes free ice cream! There is a small stream and one can take long walks before or after a meal. Parking is ample and the ambience of the place is great. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place is clean. I'd definitely like to come back again

Great warm feel to the place. Service was great. Food excellent and not overpriced. Even made us onion rings, that weren't on the menu. Will go again with the kids and try the Sunday lunch.

Popped in for a quick drink on route to another place. The menu tempted us, so we gave in. Hubby had hot beef sandwich that came with gravy, salad and chips. I asked for the chicken and mushroom ciabatta but they had no mushrooms. Not to worry, I got chicken & bacon ciabatta that was gorgeous. Salad serving has mustard dressing on, so remember to say if you don't want that on. Pricey drinks (got large wine & soda and a lime & soda and it was £8.30!) but we'll worth the visit 😋.
