Robineau Pattisserie and Cafe in Darlington

The shop always looks lovely when you drive past... Its darlington at the end of the day not London, your prices are very expensive and the food is not that good.

Although on the expensive side, Robineau café used to be a good place to meet for lunch or drinks and cakes with friends, but sadly they are no longer open as a cafe, now only offering pre booked afternoon tea at £22.95 person and cold takeaway food with a limited selection of hot drinks. They no longer serve hot chocolates, which is a shame because they were the best drink available, and only have tea or coffee to take away due to this being the only option for afternoon tea.There are lots of options in the deli counter but unfortunately most of them need to be reheated in the oven, not great for a takeaway lunch. The only options which are ready to eat are quiche or a sandwich, which they weren't able to toast.The cafe was empty and the takeaway counter fully stocked with ready-meal type food. They really need to reassess the type of food/service they offer for takeaway now they're no longer a functioning cafe. Disappointing to drive 45 minutes for lunch only to be turned away with only a cold slice of quiche and a colder reception.

The food at Robineau is fantastic but their Christmas collection service is dreadful. We were stood waiting outside in the rain for the shop to open at 9am. Despite the queue they did not open on time and everyone was getting soaked. The collection service is poorly organised and extremely slow. Ordered should be prepackaged ready for you to collect at your allocated time. It should be an in and out service. Overall very disappointed in Robineau when we usually love it here.

We ordered 3 afternoon teas & 1 child’s afternoon tea & what a marvellous experience ! From the extremely polite delivery driver to the wonderfully prepared beautiful tasting food . Just wow

Robineaus supplied us with a small selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries plus one of their famous trifles for my Dads funeral. They were so well organised and with their help we did my Dad proud. Thank you Robineau ❤

The quality of the cakes lived up to expectation but the quality of the 'superior' chocolate is nothing special as it's grainy and underwhelming in flavor and does not justify the price tag as the staff member who served us was nice but her colleague seems to look you up and down making you feel un-welcome.

Fabulous! (If you can afford it)Firstly I should say about I am more of a greasy spoon kind of guy *.Work colleague booked us in for a fancy afternoon.Lovely decor, professional, friendly (not to mention pretty) waitresses, delicious cakes. To my eyes it all feels rather Parisienne in a good way.So far all 5 Star.But £7+ for a cup of tea and a slice cake. See above *Above my pay grade. However, I can't mark it down for the price. Although out of my league I can confirm this is a high quality establishment. And it is busy and clearly working for it's target market. My work colleagues loved it and I must admit it did feel a treat.5 stars less 1 star for poor parking - it's on a very busy road.

Superb, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious food. It doesn't come cheap, but quality like this never does. Booking recommended if wishing to eat in.
