The Fox Hole in Darlington

Tuesday, May 3rd. My wife and i called in for lunch. I had the fish & chips which along with Tartar sauce and mushy peas was superb. Also a glass of Malbec which was excellent.

Have eaten twice here in the last 2 months and really enjoyed both visits. Nice staff and excellent food.

Food was brilliant and staff were excellent would highly recommend it was my first time at the pub looking forward to going back

Can't fault it. Called in for Sunday lunch. Quality food, good service and thankfully not overbearingly attentive service. Will definitely be back. Prices reasonable and the quality of the beef was excellent. Pork fine too and swordfish also very good. Puddings were a nice mix. Brownie with strawberry ice-cream works very well! Cheers 🍻

Giving four stars but could have been three. Decor lovely. Staff very friendly. Main course of seafood platter was absolutely gorgeous. Main course of pork tenderloin was very tasty but the tenderloin was a touch dry and overcooked. Then the worst bit. The rice pudding was so undercooked the rice was basically raw and rock hard like small stones. The sticky toffee pudding was either bought in, or the chef doesn't know how to make it. However, the staff were very apologetic and took the items off the bill. All in all the mains were lovely and desserts shocking, but I imagine if they solved some little faults this would be a great all round gastropub. We'll be back.

Very clean, absolutely gorgeous fresh food,Found this place at random, when arriving without a booking we were welcomed with friendly customer service and given a table. The food was at a good value with plenty of meat to go around. After eating at the foxhole just 2 minutes over the road was a pleasant walk to see a roman settlement.

Beautiful food, great atmosphere and lovely setting. Visited with friends and we had a great night, well recommended

Disappointed with our first visit since before Covid ordered a Ploughman's which was not a Ploughman's as I know it and I know things change but not a Ploughman's surely the Ham was slimey so definitely not cut off the bone as you would expect their were olives but no apple and patè 😒
