Excellent food and service industry friendly prices. Great selection of both food and drink, and a well-maintained, clearly passionately managed premises.Well situated on the outskirts of the centre, with ample parking and good access. Charming décor and lovely surrounds.

An excellent meal, beautifully cooked and served with a smile! A great plus point was staff checking that my food was good. Very relaxing surroundings, all highly recommended. P.K. Darlington.

Such a shame as we used to love visiting here. We took my elderly father for his birthday - 3 had child portions and my husband the full fish and chips. The child portion were equal if not larger than his fish and chips which was 3 times the price. Very shocked by the small portion. As for my sandwich - chicken with avacado and bacon. Asked them to hold the mustard dressing, which they didn’t, so they then remade it without the avacado. I gave up at that point as the family had finished their meals. As I said, we used to love this place but will avoid in the future.

Based on a single review, I decided to drive from Edinburgh to partake in the Sunday Roast Dinner, specifically the Beef. The venue, a spectacular country retreat. The service, nothing short of exceptional. The restrooms, clear and fresh. The food, made the trip worthwhile.Special mention for the Roast Potatoes, to die for.

Nice large car park, quirky little beams and nooks and crannies when you get in but still feels spacious and inviting. And the smell of the log fires was perfect. Went with some work colleagues for a meal... Food was lovely. Staff were friendly. What more could you wish for. I'll be back with the family.

Vintage inns pub. Estrella bit pricey (ÂŁ5 a pint!l). But cold, fizzy, and clearly the lines are cleaned regularly. Clean, walk and welcoming staff. Didn't eat so no comment on food.

Great place to have a lunch, great food and drink with fantastic service. I would say if you are in Darlington and looking for a great place to eat with good foid, good sized carpark, you couldn't go wrong with The Tawny Owl. A far better place than the Old Farm House.

Great cozy country pub. I’ve eaten here twice in the last week and not been left disappointed. The roast dinners are lovely. Lots of meat, veg and potatoes. Some beautiful desserts on the menu too! The edible flower pot was delicious (see pic!). I can’t wait to visit in the winter for the festive menu, with the fire on and a nice glass of Malbec! The staff can’t do enough for you. Very friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive.Would highly recommend!

We found this vintage restaurant from Google Maps search on our way to Scotland from York. We stopped for late lunch and what a great choice of location for traditional pub experience.Definitely very authentic and good ambiance place. Have a big parking available, very friendly and helpful staff and great menu with tasteful options.Highly recommended for families with kids.Thank you The Tawny Owl team!
