Yarm Road Fish & chips in Darlington

Used to be the best chippy for miles but very recently when I’ve been going everything has gotten a little bit soggy and anaemic. Staff are really efficient and friendly but quality of the food has nose dived a little.

No complaints about the food however nofish patties left and considering it is a fish shop after all its amusing that this can even happen. This must be down to poor planning or bad management.

Our favourite fish and chip shop in the town. Food is always freshly cooked and the fish has light crispy batter. Quantity of chips can vary from week to week.Staff are always polite and very friendly. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Every tine I try to order fish and chips so that they are ready for when I arrive ,they say on the phone that they will be an hour, funny when I call in and order them it takes 10 mins . My wife ordered and paid over the phone for me to collect ,they said they would be ready in 1 hour ,I called to collect them in 1 hour and had to wait another 30 mins ,while people were pulling up and just ordering and leaving before me . I would never order over the phone again ,in fact I go to Thirlemere chippy on neasham road ,they are much better fish and chips and cheaper .

Fresh & tasty cod fish with mushy peas. I’d read that it’s one of the top 100 chippies in the U.K. and I can see why. A slick operation and great hygiene standards. Too good not to eat straight away!

Excellent fish and chips. Love that you can order on line in advance to avoid queues. And their bags are gorgeous too! You don’t go to a choppy for their paper bags, but if you did, well Stephenson’s Rocket on your bag - just lovely!
