ASK Italian - MetroCentre Gateshead in Gateshead

We had a very positive experience last night at Ask Italian MetroCentre. I have a dairy allergy and therefore have to be dairy free, after advising the girl who met us at the door she promptly informed all other members of staff of my allergy and sat us at a table of our choice. We were then served by Scott for the rest of our visit who went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and comfortable (I haven’t been dairy free very long so it’s still all very new and daunting.) Scott explained different dishes at length and why some other dishes weren’t dairy free when I expected them to be. He also regularly checked in through our meal to make sure I was happy with my food and was enjoying what I chose. Overall a great experience, even down to the ‘dairy free’ stickers on my plates when they were served. Scott definitely deserves some recognition as he went out of his way to advise me that evening and I appreciated it more than he will realise. Friendly and approachable he was an amazing member of staff. Would come back again, especially if we see Scott is on shift! Thanks again to all involved.

The staff were amazing and friendly and really helpful even with allergies and the service 10/10 they make you feel welcome. The food is out of this world especially the massive tortellini,s excellent quality food and reasonably priced all in all 5 🌟 plus for this place you have to try and see . WELL RECOMMENDED 😇

We visited on 25th May. We asked for confirmation that they offered gluten free, told yes and then waited to be seated. The gf menu was presented on its own so easy to read and choose from, a little worrying that their were no prices notes however!The Manager looked after us once he knew it was medical gf and I felt save with the precautions he explained to us.We ordered and after quite await our 2 meals arrived. It wasn’t hard to spot the gf one. It was a fraction of the amount of food and looked plain and very unappetising. My friends food looked very nice and ample portion. The gf meal was plain awful. Tasteless. My friend was horrified at the difference between the 2meals. We asked the manager why I had such a small portion size and he explained that all gf meals come ready portioned for safety.I don’t eat out very often due to being Celiac and this has confirmed why. It’s 2022 surely we should be better catered for. Definitely won’t be going back

Used a gift voucher we got at Christmas for a 3 course meal for 2. It allowed us a more limited menu, but plenty of nice food to choose from. Really enjoyed our meal, lovely friendly staff. I really like that they do wine in a 500ml carafe - perfect size for us to share when 1 of us is driving.

Best Italian chain restaurant.Fast service, friendly staff good quality for the price point.

First time in Metrocentre's Ask.Friendly attentive staff, food for a chain was better quality than other similar places, appeared fresher and came out quick (didn't hear any mircowave 'pings') not cheap, as a lot of places aren't nowadays but not surprising. We used vouchers, and feel there was some over charging going on whether accidental or otherwise (£6.95 for a tiny child side salad?), but overall it made decent pizza

My favourite place to eat in the metro, would highly recommend. Friendly staff and fast service

Decent for lunch!Clean restaurant, pleasant staff, food was well presented and of decent quality, and they have a welcoming atmosphere for any group of adults with or without children.While this all sounds good, the food is somewhere between quality and quantity, and I'm not sure the balance is right. If you want a middling stop for lunch or light early evening food; great. If you're after a great quality dinner, maybe not.Desserts were great though! Try the brownie.

Meal was excellent. We were a walk-in group of 8, with 4 boisterous kids. We were treated excellently, had to take a picture of the balsamic vinegar so that i could order some. It was simply immense.

On entry, we were greeted by a lovely staff member, very polite and gave us a choice of table, all staff were so friendly and professional, I love how they ask if anyone has any allergies prior to ordering so that they can cater for anyone, the food was beautiful, drinks were refreshing and I love the way of paying for it using a scan code. Will definitely be back again.
