Riverside Delight in Gateshead

Lovely little place we like to go for coffee and cake. They've extended their menu to include breakfasts, hot and cold sandwiches and light meals. Only problem I have, is deciding what I want from their choice of desserts, as they are all delicious 😋

Terrible service - my order was taken then brought out wrong , then waited ages for them to correct it. VERY unorganised and no URGENCY to get the order to me .Also took 5 steps out the shop and the ice-cream wouldn't even stay on the cone . Completely melting . Consistency and taste just wasn't right . My little boy commented saying mammy that's not ice-cream , maybe they forgot to put it in freezer . Was shocking . They didn't get to finish their icecream and had to bin them was impossible to eat and hold . Also items not available on the menu - sherbet flavours that i had ordered (came back and said not available). I also heard the staff member come back after taking a gentleman's order (who came in after me ) , to say sorry no skittles after taking payment for skittles. Inconvenient as i heard him say well i don't like anything else .Thanks for the response. Seems alot of excuses are always made . I was infact the only customer in the shop when i ordered . But thanks i will pop back in for my refund today . 😊

Very unorganised, took nearly 25 minutes to make two small coffees to take away and 12.10 for the two coffees and two small brownies. Poor lasses at the front didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing, weren't aware of prices etc, charging other customers whilst I was there incorrectly.Editing my review as I cannot reply.There's a few inconsistencies in the managers response, note the manager says that it was busy but they "checked the CCTV and there was only one person on the shop" well that is not true, when I arrived there was 2 men front of me, one on his lunch break already frustrated with how long he was waiting for his coffee, then as you wrote the other woman who ordered the slush with a child and another woman. There was NOT only one person in the shop, but if there was that would be even worse.They did say the coffee machine "was being dodgy" and apologise but that was when the other man who was in before me started getting impatient, but I still didn't expect to wait 25 minutes and that's certainly not the girls fault, so I hope management sort out whatever the issue was with it. They did seem overwhelmed and I felt bad for them.The layout of the shop and price list are actually hard to find, you have about 50 random posters on the wall that are difficult to follow when you're asking to be served and a sign on the counter that read "today's sweets" so it was not very clear, what exactly you were serving that day. Same with the slush size too, hence why the other customer then changed her mind on what size slush she wanted.I suggest you put a photo up of each size slush cup so customers can see exactly what they are getting, it would probably be less time consuming.As for the price, yes I was aware and I wouldn't of minded paying that if I hadn't waited 25 minutes, which then caused me to miss my bus, which meant I then had to wait 40 minutes at the bus stop nursing a hungry newborn in public because I should of been home.Please don't take it out on your girls though, the things that need rectifying are not within their control and is management issue.

Absolutely awful customer service. I wrote a review on their Facebook and because they didn’t like having one bad review they decided to share my review and attempt to publicly shame me and allowed their staff and other people to bad mouth me on their post. Not the way a business should behave. All in an attempt to bully me into taking down my review...ridiculous

I love this local gem. Ice cream, cakes, slushies, sweets, not forgetting delicious hot chocolate! Discount and freebies to students, NHS staff etc, they really give back to the community. I won a kids treat box in a Facebook competition (I'll enter them all as they do the BEST cake!) and it far exceeded my expectations. Staff are so friendly, even when busy and rushed off their feet.

Wasn't impressed with the quality of the ice cream used, and wait to receive your order was far to long.Also one more which these type places never really cater for is young kids, the size ice for 5 year old was far too big.These places never seem to offer smaller size ice-cream for younger children.

Absolutely love visiting here. Another beautifully presented afternoon tea and an absolute bargain too. Cake is always delicious. Staff are fantastic so lovely and friendly go out of their way to make your visit the best it can be.

Great dessert place, both adults and kids are very well looked after soon as you walk in. This place offers a great range of ice creams cakes, milkshakes etc. 100% recommended

Oh my... This place has everything for a sweet tooth! Cakes, sweets, puddings, ice cream and about 20 flavours of milkshake! I had a snickers milkshake and it went down pretty quickly. I was going to say it maybe would have been nice to have it a little thicker, but then again it might have made it too heavy to finish in one go. All in all great and I love that it's open late, will definitely be back to make my way through more flavours.

First time today - delicious ice cream and a lovely little shop. Will be back! 🍧😁
