The Schooner in Gateshead

Been meaning to come to this pub for a few years as they do proper ciders. Really glad I’ve finally managed to get here.They have 5 proper ciders on here today.And I tried the fish and chips and omg that was amazing.Friendly welcome, nice pub will definitely be coming back here agan

Homely pub with a good vibe and excellent food. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious. Stuart was most welcoming and looked after us really well. Looking forward to returning

1st ever visit. Out on a run and passed it (which is illegal). Completed run, turned around and ran back to it (no charges were brought against me).Place was quiet. Great selection of ales on(6 in total). Had a couple of ales to slake my thirst. Bar person was great. Very friendly. Could have stayed all night to try all of the beers but unfortunately it was a school night.I shall return.

Excellent pub, Very Good food and good price

Called in this afternoon for food and a few drinks, we chose here as it’s dog friendly. They have a great selection of beers and a good bar menu, the food we had was superb as was the service. Will definitely return.

Would put this pub in my Newcastle/Gateshead top 5. Super lovely staff, good traditional settings and lush beers/ciders. Plenty of gluten free options, thanks Schooner!!

Great little pub very well place as I go fishing 🎣 very near to it. Like to pop in a grab a pint and some food once I'm done fishing. Nice friendly staff good atmosphere always welcoming.

We were well looked after here by the lovely Suzy. We sat outdoors by the fire pits and had our tea here in this hidden away pub right by the river. Friendly chilled out crowd on a Thursday night and a feeling of community. It was a really chilly night but the fire pits were well tended. If it's chilly come well wrapped up and early for a spot by the fires.Meals here are lovely and priced between £8-£10. We had a Magpye vegan pie, scampi, burger and pizza all were full of flavour and well presented. Brilliant how most things are available in veggie or vegan options. Our fav though were the perfect spot on traditional chips which are sadly so hard to get in pubs these days.Lovely friendly pub ran by people who care!
