Wetherspoons', Metro Centre, Gateshead in Gateshead

I have to say shopping is not my favourite past time ! However came up North to visit our daughter and her partner. Included in the visit was the mandatory shopping excursion to the metro centre for some holiday clothes . Was well knackered after dragging our heals around many of the shops and decided to nip into trusty Wetherspoons for a meal and liquid refreshment ! The place was heaving, extremely …busy as expected at about 1 pm. Now initially I was somewhat apprehensive re the amount of people and the lengthy delay we anticipated in getting served . However our fears were soon allayed by the extremely hard working and friendly staff. We placed our drinks and grub order via the Wetherspoons App. Within ten minutes our drinks arrived closely followed by four piping hot main courses! The staff were friendly and attentive, they were constantly cleaning and clearing tables. The service and value for money this branch of Wetherspoons provides is second to non! Our food was excellent. Of course this isn’t a gourmet eatery where you might like to take a picture of your grub rather than neck it ! It is however an Oasis of value for money food that’s going to hold your ribs together till tea time. Served quickly by staff who were warm and welcoming. Jobs a good un , many of our southern eatery’s could take lessons from this chain and indeed this branch !! Ten out of ten ! Made shop almost pleasurable!!

Friendly staff and great prices.Being in a busy area this place fills up fast so I would recommend turning up early for lunch/dinner.Very cozy environment with a lot of space for seating.

Went to weatherspoon this evening I was standing at the bar where the staff were talking about my partner I listened then shouted of him over , then the girl bare faced lied and said she hadn’t said it even tho the other girl she told had said al get them to check cameras (which we asked them to do while we were there so he could get an apology but no they couldn’t do that ) even tho I had been standing there the whole time !! absolutely disgusting behaviour then a man came over told us to leave I asked for my money back he walked away till I shouted I wanted my £52 back then they called security and we got escorted out for pulling them up on there disgusting behaviour!! I will never go again that’s for sure the managers want sacked as well didn’t even listen to why we were annoyed just took her side !! The security men were lovely totally understood where we were coming from and said the girl was in the wrong so I appreciate them !!

Looks can be deceiving, it looks OK from the outside but it was quite grubby inside. The carpet is very dated and could do with an upgrade.The App was showing multiple foods were out of stock, but you could order these OOS items at the bar as people who came in after us ordered said items.The table service was quick and the server did come back to ask if everything is OK. I've been here a few times, but this was a bit of a let down in all honesty.

Had to pay 65p per egg to change fried eggs to poached eggs, we had 2 large breakfasts. Charged, for making it easier for the chef and trying to be that little bit healthier because "they're different eggs". Go figure. Also the staff on the tills clearly got out of the wrong side of the wrong bed, customer skills of a wet lettuce. Coffee was banging though 😏

Good value and loads of seating staff were very friendly . And it's so easy to order via the QR code and app but our breakfast although good value was mostly cold . It was also brought to us in minutes which makes me assume the everything pre cooked and on a hot plate. . understandable seeing how busy it was but they need to turn the hot plate up. Staff are lovely though. Thanks. I will return to see if that hot plate has been turned up ..

Big pub was good amount of space to have food. The menu was limited to choose from but t has something for everyone. The place was clean and the staff was friendly and hot on the trace to clean the table down once someone leaves. So you can tell hygiene was high on the priority of staff. Very good. The food came out fast and it was nice. Give it ago you can't go wrong

A welcomed sight after an afternoon of shopping!!! Usual Wetherspoons cheap and cheerful but great value,staff were friendly and beer was cold what's not to like.
