The Gables in Middlesbrough

Came here for my birthday after it was recommended, chips were amazing but my parmo was slimy and undercooked once I'd got to the thicker bit, customer service could have been a lot better after id told the waitress. Didn't want a refund as I'd ate all the edge bits and all the chips but even a "sorry about that" would have sufficed. Real shame as it had a nice vibe to it.

Couldn't fault the food or bar staff. (Proper local lot, with local dialect) 🤣😂. The parmo had plenty of jalapenos on, and the chips. Just one word. SUPERB. I'd go back and just order a massive plate of chips and slab of butter and bread. Dowey is a good landlord. One downside to the night, prat customer made his mouth go. But don't take anything from the pub. Absolutely superb. I'll definitely be going again. Good old fashioned pub and food. Thank you

Went here for the 1st time today...Lovely atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful. Food was very nice and homemade. Proper chips. I had the Steak pie mash peas and gravy and it was rammed with steak mash was spot on and gravy really tasty.Will definitely 💯 % return again very soon as the sizzling plate for the fajitas looked awesome...Cheers a full happy customer.They also have smaller portions and a sweet is included in the price..Till next timeThanks.!!!

Food was excellent. All home made. Even though it was very busy we didn't wait long at all. There was 7 of us for my birthday table was reserved for us and the staff were excellent will definitely be returning. Already told friends who have never been to make sure they try here.

Food was delicious, big portions (there is a smaller appetite menu too) steak pie was unreal! Lovely friendly staff & doggies welcome which I love.

We had a lunch time visit, friendly and warm, cosy atmosphere, it was busy but the staff were friendly chatty and efficient, we sat near the gorgeous parrot near the window which was lovely. We had the light bite menu which is £8.99 for 2 courses, the food was home made and freshly cooked, i had, vegetarian lasagne with a big stack of home made chips and salad, and homemade toffee apple sponge and ice-cream.. My friend had steak pie chips and gravy. And homemade apple pie and custard... The lighter bite menu was ample, plenty of food...plenty of menu choices... We struggled to finish.... We will be back soon.... Can thoroughly recommend this lovely place x

Heard great reviews about the gables parmo, sadly very disappointed. Parmo was awful, full of gristle on the meat. Loadsa black bits. Garlic tasteless. Homemade chips not the best. Will not be returning.If your carrying a bit of extra timber avoid like the plague, the chairs are from 19 o freeze to death and so uncomfortable. Numb bum isn't the word.

Really good meal here last night, the host Jo was extra good and found us a seat even though it was fully booked, the food was good and portion sizes massive, I went for the OMG hot chicken parmesan with home cut chips, it was massive 😂 enough to feed 2 people which for the price was really good value, I also ordered some garlic bread which was nice and rhubard sponge with custard for desert (always room for desert), the atmosphere in the pub was nice and friendly and the staff were attentive and polite, overall it was a really good experience and if I lived locally I'd be there all the time 😁 I would highly recommend a visit if your looking for a good hearty pub lunch/dinner or if your just wanting a drink or 2 👍👍👍👍

Just dropped in for tea with the kids. Took the dog as well. Really nice food and all the staff were very friendly. The meals were a good size, with drinks and all this for £30!!! Brilliant. Highly recommended.
