Barrio Comida in Newcastle upon Tyne

Barrio Comida is not only the best restaurant in Durham but also the best Mexican I have tried in the UK.With authentic dishes and a focus on fresh, local ingredients, Barrio is too good to miss on a trip to Durham.The service is always excellent and friendly. The atmosphere is always great, the masa for the tacos is milled fresh and the cocktails are delicious. What’s not to love?Don’t skip on the prawn ceviche or fish tacos!

Absolutely fantastic place all round. Food, cocktails and atmosphere all amazing with some knoweldgeable staff. Seen a few reviews complain about price and service, however couldn't fault our visit. Staff where attentive and you get what you pay for, will be back.

Nice place to meet with friends. Taco were great and watched the shells being made. Drinks were all goodSat at high top table which was a bit cramped but we still had fun

Well well well…This place was at end of our decision process of where to eat on a day trip to Durham.The staff were fantastic and the food was brilliant! Especially if you like coriander (there was a little too much for us!).The tacos were delicious and the black beans were covered in cheese, they were salty and so tasty!Takes American Express and you order through a QR code.Baby changing present.

The best Mexican restaurant we have eaten at since arriving in the UK. Everything from the chips, to the salsas, to the variety of tacos - all excellants. I order the pork/carnitas. Very flavorful and tender. We ordered black bean as well. Excellant as a dip for the corn chips. All and all, we will be back. Perfect location,friendly efficient wait staff too.

Family friendly restaurant with large outdoor dining space and away from busy tourist trap.Good tacos and lovely taste corn tortilla chips with selection of salsa.However tacos portion size a bit small. Ideally you need 2-3portions per person to fill belly up and when is add up can be a little bit expensive.For DiY Kid tacos is good value and great fun for little one.

Ordering was via QR code and payment was made online before the food arrived. Service can be bit hit and miss. We did 2 separate orders as were not sure of the portions and the second order took another 45 mins after the first order came and we had to chase for the order. Children’s DIY taco was fun for the 5 year old. Salsa didn’t come automatically with the order and we had to ask specifically for it when we did our second order. Overall the food and atmosphere was good and they gave our 5 year old some dough to play with while we were waiting. Nevertheless it provided a good change from the usual offering high street restaurants

Amazing food, great service and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Family friendly and great baby changing facilities. Look forward to returning soon!

Food is good. Service is not. Expensive. Very rude girl slammed me and my partners drinks on the table. There is a service charge even though you have to do that yourself. Don’t be dissuaded as the food is great. As long as you like tacos as the menu is very limited.

If I had to choose one place in Durham to go to the rest of my life it would be here. Service is always great, as is the atmosphere. The food is amazing, I get something different each time and am always pleased. The deserts are very underrated too. Great cocktails too. Cannot recommended this place enough!!
