This restaurant is superb. The quality of ingredients outstanding.Would definitely recommend the scallops or langoustines to start. My colleague said the striploin steak, it was superb. I ate the hake.. delicious. We were a group of 5, and of course - the location, history, the beautiful building make the whole.experience excellent. Fabulous French Red was recommended and was excellent.

Fabulous 3 course lunch following an informative, historical tour. Beautiful site, friendly welcome, first class service & top quality food. Would highly recommend for an impromptu lunch or dinner or private function. Awesome meeting rooms, tasting menus & cookery school. Definitely something for all tastes & budgets.

This came recommended by a local. The decor and atmosphere were great, and it felt like stepping back in time. Unfortunately, our booking was for 15 minutes before the kitchens closed, though we weren't aware of this until we arrived. So, it made the ordering experience feel a bit rushed as well as the service, which really detracted from the overall experience.Otherwise, the food was good and flavourful.

I'd heard this place was good but it was utterly amazing. The staff are wonderful, warm and knowledgeable and make you feel looked after. And the food, oh my word, it is without a doubt the best meal I have ever had. Beautiful. I can't wait until next time.

We were here for a birthday celebration. The food was good. There are a few buts, the room was stuffy and smelt of cooking, the main and starter I had were over salted, not so as to be inedible but a bit much, I appreciate this is a matter of taste. Finally, this was a 21st birthday gathering, this was clear from the booking but also from all us old people wishing the birthday boy a happy birthday, however, there was no recognition of this from the restaurant, not even a happy birthday, never mind a piece of cake with a candle

Ate here on Wednesday at 5.30. Staff were fantastic and at that time of night had time to talk to you before it got busy. Its a beautiful building and I'd not been for a long time but the atmosphere of the place didn't disappoint. Had a choice between set menu or a la carte, we opted for set as we preferred the food options on that, we certainly weren't disappointed. Perfectly sized portions and prompt service. All in all will be back soon 10 out of 10 .Well done to everyone for service and the chefs in the kitchen I salute you. ( I used to be one) thanks again 😊

Food is impeccable served in inventive ways. Couldn't believe the scallop and ham hock pie! Out of this world! But all the food is top notch, wine was stunning and good value. Staff are delightful. In the perfect ambient historical setting! My first choice in Newcastle.

I have visited Blackfriars restaurant quite a lot over the last 15 years for both personal and business reasons. The restaurant is in a great location and a unique historic building. The staff are amazing and always look after you. The menu changes to give diversity and uses local produce. Prices are on the higher side but is worth it as you get what you pay for. I recommend visiting outside of the Xmas period as the choice and quality in my view is better/unique.

We went for the Newcastle NE1 restaurant week offer. Lunch time 2 courses for £20 Evening 2 courses £20. The portions are not big but the food was delicious. Quality not quantity. I see that they have a winter warmer menu that also looks very tempting for not much more. We will certainly be back to try that.

Went to Blackfriars for Newcastle restaurant week and am glad we did . Its been over 6 years since I've been but the same magic is still in abundance . The menu was very good as well as the food but the staff was excellent and informative which I really appreciate. Will be back soon with or without restaurant week. Keep up the great work people.
