Ernest in Newcastle upon Tyne

Used to be a nice spot for lunch. However can be hit and miss nowadays. We went yesterday and had our meal ruined by a rude waitress asking for a tip as they don't charge a service charge. The food is not cheap as it is and to try and make customers feel obliged to leave a tip is terrible customer service. To be fair the customer service by waiting staff wasn't great in the first place so why would we want to tip.

Visited for brunch on a pretty busy Saturday monring with a group of 6, ordered brunch and a few drinks. Only criticism would be the food took a while to come, but the girls who served us were dead friendly, food was lovely when it came, and even when it started pouring down with rain the team dealt with it well and brought a few brollies out. Will go again

Visited twice in one day, the first time my partner and 3 year old while I was having my wedding makeup trial done and again for dinner, once I was done. The food was phenomenal and extremely reasonably priced considering what they have on offer and the quality of it. The experience was made so much better by the staff though for sure. There was a lady on shift yesterday who couldn't have done enough for us her name was Stella, her and our daughter have made friends for life, nothing was too much, she kept her entertained, involved her in little jobs. I'm sure all parents know that small children get bored quickly and when service industry staff put that amount of effort into making the whole thing so pleasant it really does make a huge difference. Thank you Ernest Cafe for being so very accommodating and for the best food we've had in a very long time!!!

Been coming here since 2017. Love it, sometimes busy on a weekend- but the Brunch is amazing, particularly if you're keen to go for veggie option. Busy at weekends, but always worth the wait! Thanks again.

Drinks and service were amazing, highly recommend. Steak was a little tough but the polenta was unreal. Worth a visit

Friendly staff and I was surprised to get a table so quickly on Saturday at lunch time. Loved the Tynemouth coffee and fresh orange juice (would’ve preferred the OJ without ice) but it was freshly squeezed which was the main thing. Tasty!However, I was a bit disappointed with the Huevos rancheros hash bowl. The egg, avocado and chorizo were lovely but overall it was oily and there were too many flavours going on for me. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, it could’ve just been that day and I’ll be back to give Ernest’s another go and try other things on the menu!

Amazing day on Saturday for my best friends Hen. She hired the room and it was beautiful classy and just enough to start our celebrations. The lady who was looking after us was super friendly and couldn’t do enough the other staff were equally as nice. The food was beautiful so so good and I can confirm the cocktails and mock tails were fabulous. Thanks so muchLiam

One of my favourite brunch spots in Newcastle. Recently found out they’re dog friendly inside and out so can’t wait to take our dog with us next time. Prices are a little steep but I think it’s worth it
