Gormans in Newcastle upon Tyne

Second time I have been and they have got the order wrong should have learnt from the last time. Will remember never use this fish and chip place in future. What I did get wasn’t nice.

Couldn't rate the food as didn't bother, in COVID times to be cash only is unbelievable smacks of a business in decline. During lockdown I drove over to get fish and chips and they said only doing deliveries so I rang to order for delivery but my postcode was outside their catchment area. Asked if they could deliver to my car outside their shop but they said they couldn't do that, for what reason I really don't understand and they couldn't explain either. Seemed to almost take pleasure in refusing service.

The worst load of grease stricken mush iv had the displeasure to taste..... It was so bad, my battered to within an inch sausage and soaked in old grease chips, were ejected round about the Darras Hall turning on the A69 en route to Carlisle... DISGUSTING...!?!

Over 150yrs of business and still running. Same taste, flavour and I usually host my guests by buying Gorman s fish and chips at fantastic and unbelievable prices. Very courteous and jovial tillers

poor quality fish all batter very little fish cold when arrived had to reheat, very disapointed at over 17quid will not be buying again !!!! waited 60 mins for them next time defo a chinese

Found this place on a whim. My god it was probably one of the best fish n chips I've had up north!Everything's cooked to order, fish wasn't soggy, it was just perfect! Chips were amazing too!

Got some fish and chips on the way home from work. Very nice Gormans is a chippy we (me and my parents) have used many times in the past. On odd occasions we have tried other chippies but they were never as good as Gormans.🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

Absolute disgrace. 1 star isn't low enough. It's not only the worst chip shop I have ever been to its the worst take out food from anywhere I have ever been. Asked for a tray of donor kebab, garlic and chilli. When I opened the box I had microwaved packet kebab swimming in grease literally dripping off. The smell was vile my colleague started reching when I opened the box and had to get out the van.the portion was tiny as if it was even eatable. Then the garlic sauce tasted of nothing and the chilli was bitter like it had went off. Can't even properly explain how bad this place is. I have never wrote a review in my life but this place is ridiculous do not eat here I warn you

Ordered a kebab, battered sausage and chips and rang up so that it would be ready for when I got there. When I got to the chip shop, I had to wait around 10 to 15 minutes even though I ordered in advance and people who weren't even there before me got their food first. Disgrace and the staff are rude. Much prefer the Golden Chippy nearby in Slatyford, much better and cheaper.

As it’s Friday I always treat myself to fish n chips.I will use this Gormans until the other branch reopens at Cowgate.This one is ok, nothing special. However as these are not fried to order I would recommend going during business periods so you don’t get food that has sat on the hot plates above the fryers. Otherwise you get home with a Luke warm to cold take away.
