Gosforth Chippy in Newcastle upon Tyne

The worst chippy I have ever used.... The fish was dripping with fat/oil also the taste while eating was disgusting and don't get me started on the after taste........ if could have given 0 stars I would have.... THIS IS NOT A FAKE REVIEW......Seems to be a pattern forming here by this company when they receive a bad review as I have noticed that the Gosforth chippy report the review as fake to Google Disgusting food and can't take the truth about the quality of there food........ A small point to prove that this not a fake review the young lass that served me had a big ZIT next to her nose..... Again the worst chippy i have ever used and i am 53 years of age and an Ex Army Chef so you can trust me to know a quality product that i expect for a chip shop also this was my first job back in 1987 so i know quality fish and chips.......

What a treat! New to the area and we tried every chippy and couldn't find anything that tasted like home. Well this place didn't disappoint! Lovely chips! :)

It was very delicious and the staff were very nice.

Prices are high given the quality and quantity of chips. Will not return as they are better places to go to nearby.

My dad says, best fish and chip shop he's been to in living memory. Great portions, tasty fish and potatoes, we would highly recommend!

Don't know what happened here as food is always nice but tonight was awful maybe changed staff on fryer or lunchtimes reheated but chips were so dry and cod was very greasy with dry batter not be coming back

Got to say the best chippy I've been to in my life the delivery is fast and you food is hot. EXCELLENT

Ordered fish and chips. Said delivery would be an hour, but came within 20/30 mins. Delicious as always 😋

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I don’t know what’s happened in the last few months but it’s awful. My fish arrived raw, the overall food was cold with a coating of solidified lard. My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger, a battered piece of meat arrived, no bun. We called to question, the woman on the phone said well it’s not my fault you read the website wrong, there’s an option to order with a bun too. He said but it’s not a cheeseburger, her attitude was appalling, she said well just cut it open there’s cheese inside. This went on and as a manager myself, I would discipline this member of staff. This is until she put the owner on who instantly said she would send a driver to collect the burger then refund 1.75 to my card, my partner said can I just give you some feedback about the meal, and she slammed the phone down. Seriously, choose K&L Fisheries. My dad had a similar experience, but his food just didn’t arrive and the owner said she would refund and didn’t, so he claimed it back off his card provider in the end. What a shame for a once unbeatable chip shop.

The food is great however shocking delivery times. Waited 1 hour 7 mins, called to ask where food was and the driver wasn't even back from his previous delivery round. So looking at another 45 minutes into of that. Wouldn't even rate it one star but had to in order to write a review. Wouldn't even knock off the delivery or throw in a bag of chips to compensate. I've used this place for a while but won't ever be coming back.
