Happiness Inn Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

The food here is so good! Everything we ordered was divine, particularly the aubergine hot pot and the monkfish hotpot, but honestly I want to list everything we ate as my favourite because it was all so good. Most authentic Cantonese food I've had since I visited HK, well worth the visit.

The outside of the restaurant is not appealing! The inside is not much better. But then we saw that 75% of the customers were chinese/of Chinese origin and that have us great confidence. There are 2 menus which are quite different. An anglicised version for the Brit's and a Chinese version. We were a group of 4 and 2 of us chose from one menu and 2 from the other. I chose a dish which was only written in Chinese. The waiter described it to me so myself and one of my friends gave it a try. I want to try more! We had outstanding service and excellent food. Put it on your list.

Food is authentic Cantonese or Chinese here. Dim sum was quality, I especially liked the noodle rolls cause they were thin and transparent. Everything we ordered were really good. Love Newcastle's authentic Chinese food scene (especially if you have been in the countryside for long and only had westernized Chinese around).

This restaurant is amazing, it offers authentic Chinese food and has very friendly staff, the service is quick and it has a very good atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to eat some real Chinese food.

Very welcoming and friendly well established restaurant. Great food and service, had a wonderful evening with friends. Only reason I haven't given 5 stars is the toilets could have been cleaner and fresher smelling and they do not take credit cards ! Otherwise I will go back and also recommend it as the food was amazing !

Well my first time here. The waiter was brilliant. Loads of fun. The food was really nice. The door fired dumplings are incredible. Everything about my whole visit was incredible.

One of the best hidden gems of a Chinese restaurant. Situated between the Percy public house, and Mark Tony ice-cream shop. Up stairs opens to a bar and waiting area, then through to the main resteraunt area. Great selection of dim sum, all freshly made to order. Great selection of starters and mains, would highly recommend the chef's special belly pork, it just melts in your mouth.

Even a 1-star rating couldn’t justify what I’ve experienced today :) Manager (He) was AWFUL, scolded my friend in which the only thing he did was saying how he didn’t know only cash payments are accepted as we’ve been there multiple times & this has never been an issue?? But yea, not complaining & was gonna pay by cash & all of a sudden you feel the need to show your temper TO YOUR CUSTOMERS So hey dear manager, maybe go sign yourself up for those customer service courses & fingers crossed that you’ll learn how to do your job right 😃

Superb dim sum, very reasonable prices and friendly service! Probably not hidden to those in the know, but nestled next to Mark Tony's, two flights up and you're among the smells and sounds of Hong Kong 😍Don't hesitate, get up those stairs and order a few plates of heaven 👍👍
