Lonsdale Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne

Nice local bar, good selection of drinks, live sports. It is ideal for the local student community but not really a family bar or somewhere to take your missus.

Pretty good spot for the football (when they open the upstairs bar). Can get very busy and getting drinks in can take a while but the staff are lovely

What a brilliant pub, loads of tv's, for sport, excellent staff, the manager Rob is a lovely bloke always happy to chat, looks like a few new things coming i can't wait to try the darts, digi new boards, well done the Lonsdale.

Went here for a Christmas dinner and I ordered the vegan option. For the starter (soup) I didn’t get any bread when literally all bread other than brioche is vegan, my friend got bread with a bit of butter for the non vegan option soClearly there is bread. Also, I received the main with no gravy and here is a picture of it… not sure how the waiter served this with a straight face. Could of just got bisto gravy and made that for vegan option, Cleary the restaurant doesn’t know what vegan food is if they don’t give u bread for a soup. Would rather they didn’t even put a vegan option on the menu instead of this joke of a substitute. Also the pub ran out of beer at 8:30pm..

Found this lal pub when looking for a shop on NYE, decided to go in and for sure was the best one we’d been to that night. All bar staff were lovely and the drinks were great too.Unfortunately there were a lot of self entitled people at the pub complaining, as they were understaffed which explains some of the bad reviews that have been left.Big thanks to the 2 gentleman behind the bar working tirelessly all night in COVID times and on NYE. I’d definitely return in a heartbeat.

Thanks Mr Elliot, came over from Liverpool and weren’t expecting much from Newcastle, especially after their performance in the Prem, but here we go.Was a cold December night and I had a thirst only eighteen litres of draft beer could quench. A light in the tunnel guided me to the warmth of Lonsdale Hotel Newcastle. There he was - the Messiah of Booze. I walk over to the bar unbeknowethed of what was to become.Next thing I knew my mouth was welded to the glass, time after time The Messiah replenished the glass of the mana of English men, the fuel of domestic violence cases and what separates man from boy.Balancing between pork pies, pints and passing out the Messiah draws a breath, “last orders”. I pull myself together to lob my pint glass at the girl ordering espresso martinis, bosh - headshot, and thrust my body past the swines ordering dark fruits.The final Stella. Suckled down with delight. I grab my jacket to go catch my train home. Arriving in Lime Street Station should have felt like home, but home is where the heart is and my heart is in Lonsdale Hotel bar.(Photo of the final pint attatched)

Waited 50 minutes for the platter and this is what I got it’s was cold and tasteless and burnt The things in the dish are apparently the nachos. Would not recommend food from here.

Top quality local boozer here. Working away the area and found this place courtesy of GM. reminded me of when pubs were pubs, pool tables, dart board, and a decent atmosphere. Friendly bar staff and decent grub.

We were staying on Osborne road but everywhere was booked up ,just walked to the metro and out the other side to this pub. Great find we had a top quality ,full English breakfast,the chef was happy to do us toast instead of chips. Staff friendly and helpful , spotlessly clean .

I had a very enjoyable Sunday roast here - the servings were generous, and the food has great flavor. Roast potatoes were really excellent, I'd recommend getting an extra serving on the side. Ambience was good, and the service was friendly. There was a 45 min wait for food, but it was busy at the time. A good spot to watch the sports.
