£10 for a "Mushroom and Stilton Pie" - a ceramic dish filled with strange watery brown liquid, no Stilton that I could taste, and mushrooms which must have been an afterthought. And to make it a "pie", a little pastry lid. Most frustrating thing was that when the waiter asked if I was enjoying my meal, I politely said no, and he wasn't bothered in the slightest. In that situation, I'd prefer it if they just didn't ask.

Ordered sourdough with mushrooms and spinach. Mushroom were nice, but toast was burnt and there were literally 6 spinach leaves. 6. Spinach. Leaves. Also waited a long time for the bill, and again to be able to pay the bill.

Great venue but staff could be friendlier. Food is okay but takes a while to get you (more than 30 mins)

·

Decent enough although the brie and cranberry toastie could have done with less cranberry and more brie

·

Great, varied and creative lunch menu. Good range of beers. Fantastic setting in the middle of Newcastle University campus.

·

Good grub and relaxed. Nice chicken salad today. Graduation week as well so lots of posh frocks

·

Varied patrons but generally demure. Keen and friendly staff. Food is excellent value and high quality. Make sure you get a seat overlooking the lawns of the University: it's great for people watching.

I usually have coffee or tea here and staff are great. Tonight I had a meal (£10 plus) from specials board. The chicken was overcooked, tough and dessicated. I mentioned this when my table was cleared and after a while the waitress came back and asked me if I wanted another drink - I assume on the house? I did not. This leaves me feeling that the chef /kitchen was dumping on the table staff for the unpleasant food (expensive for what it was too). I would have been better to have created a fuss - audible to other customers.

Food disappointing but the bar has a reasonable selection of drinks. It's probably the best bar in the area but that's not saying much! Definitely not worth going out of the way for - head down to Grey Street if you have the time

Good place to sit in and have a nice drink of coffee (or something stronger if you are so inclined!). Friendly staff and trendy decor. Worth a visit if at the uni or a show here. You could also check out the Hatton Gallery nearby!
