It's a run of the mill Bar but sometimes that's what you want in a city centre, characters,good service and it's a BAR long may it continue keep up the good work 🍻😉🍻 go on give it a go

Love this little place in the centre of Newcastle. 2 minute metro walk from monument metro station and close to local bus services. You get a nice drink from the black garter and is at a really reasonable price. They sell food here but I have never ate here yet. Its quite a popular little pub situated on the outskirts of the grainger Market. It has a great atmosphere and does a great little karaoke on the night time. The black garter is close to other pubs and plenty of places to eat,Although as I've said the black garter also serves food.it is also close to shops and eldon square. You can drink outside as it has a nice little seating area outside. It is also wheelchair accessible and also has accessible toilets x

A proper working man's pub, friendly staff, a wide selection of drinks at very good prices. Well worth a visit.

Nice pub ! Nice pints ! Nice staff ! Only one down fall is when u come out the pub u have beggers asking for money ! Witch is not safe at all ! Again friendly staff make u wellcome pints are cheap aswell ! Great pub meeting up with friends good music played aswell ! But l don't like the beggers in the area sitting across the black garter ! They come across asking for money ! Black garter needs work with police move them on ! Again great pub u can have a laugh lovely staff aswell ! Again fantastic pub cheap prices aswell staff are lovely ! But l have take star off because across the road beggers sitting outside near cash machine asking for money when u come out the black garter if black garter can work with police council move them away that would be fantastic many time l have come out black garter l been approach by beggers sometimes l feel unsafe anything can happen again if they sort that out then l give u 5 stars great lovely pub big tv screens watch football

Pub next to eldon square, live sports, wide range of beers, handy for monument metro, very good value.

3 pints and a breakfast before 10am only way to start the day

Great for pre-match drinks, my go to pub.(1 star drop on rating is for the toilets - could do with extra cleaning staff for busy times)

Black garter is a very busy city center bar that I use frequently when I'm in the toon great people cheap beer loads of tvs went for start of cheltenham plenty of seating plenty staff so no hanging g about for your pint!!! Proper boozer 😉

I had heard many negative things about the place. The pub was actually quite nice and indicative of most city centre pubs. It has lots of racing and football on the screens and the beer is average price for city centre. Some of the characters in there are rather salubrious and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. The staff were friendly and helpful and the toilets were clean and well maintained.

Good place for karaoke, very cheap drinks, crowd is generally okay.The place has a reputation for being a bit rough however you will get no trouble unless you're looking for it, noticed very few altercations here, many places are worse in this respect.The crowd is very responsive to the karaoke singers, definitely give it a go if you like a good sing.
