I’ve never had a bad visit to The Boathouse despite having visited regularly over a ten year period. The staff are always helpful, loads of good beers and the newly renovated outdoor area is fantastic. Add to that it’s location in Wylam and it’s clear to see why so many people love this pub!

Stayed a night in a very clean and comfortable room. Terrific range of beers. Fantastic Thai food.

My experience here wasn't brilliant which was a shame as the place is nice. I was with a few friends and ordered food mine took an hour and half which involved repeated requests as to were it was and the bar staff blaming the chef and vice versa. The food was very nice but sadly my experience has put me off some what

Fantastic food, a great surprise find after a little walk. Can’t wait to go back and try more. Really generous portions. Thank you 👍

Not the 1st time I had been to the Boathouse, but was the 1st time I had eaten there. The 2 steak pies 🥧 along with 2 pints of a beer called Jack the devil were very nice indeed. Jack the devil was chosen simply because every time somebody bought a pint 3 pence was donated to the RNLI.Who along with the Mountain rescue are just amazing. Because they are not like the Police, Fire brigade or the Ambulance crews. Who are fully paid up professionals the Mountain rescue and the Lifeboat crews are volunteers.Anyway back to the pub the staff were just brilliant, I arrived at the Boathouse pub about 11.00 and the barman was jet washing the ground outside the pub I asked him what time they opened and he said they were already open. The barmaid poured my drink and was also very pleasant. I personally think she did very well because even though there was only about 3 or 4 people in the pub she always seemed to be busy. There was a small plaque on the wall next to the bar commemorating a man who worked at the Boathouse it said that "He was probably the best barman in the world".It reminded me of a story about a barman called Will Ritson who worked in a pub in a place called Wasdale in the Lake District way back in the old days. When he heard that a group of climbers were going to attempt 1 of the cliffs in Wasdale. He is reported to have said - "Nobbut a fleeing thing could get up theer".Mind you he exaggerated stories of their adventures afterwards an earned himself the title of "The biggest liar in the world".The barmaid seemed quite amused.

Can't fault this place, great location seconds from the train station. Nice outdoor seating area. Great selection of beer at very good prices. Pie peas and pint £8. They used to do some of the best Thai food I've ever had not sure if they still do. Fantastic old pub with loads of character
