The Jingling Gate in Newcastle upon Tyne

Dropped a couple of one star reviews recently so trying to restore some balance to the universe. This is a great pub, food is really nice, decently priced and nicely balanced crowd of normal people. The staff are lush - friendly and helpful. Quick service but not so quick you get suspicious about a giant microwave in the kitchen.

Always a great atmosphere at the jingling gate. Staff are always polite and attentive. Usually visit for a pint on the way home from work and always liked the pub. The food looks great, will definitely be trying something next time I’m in.

Went in today on a Sunday at approx 1pm and it was only half full which I was surprised at so there were still plenty of tables to choose from. I got the lamb shank which just fell off the bone it was very nice with a lovely big soft yorkshire pudding, carrots, tender stem broccoli, cauliflower cheese, peas, roast potatoes and gravy. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Mam got the roast beef and she enjoyed it. I think they were about £10.79 each. Mam got a mini chocolate brownie with an americano, which was £5, she enjoyed the pudding but her coffee was only warm. The drinks came in at just under £11.00 which I thought was expensive for a pint of lager and black, bottle of Heineken 00 and bottle of diet coke. The dinners were a good size and even the mini pudding was adequate, overall it was nice and we will be back again.

I hardly ever leave a review but this was something else. I have never had such a bad Sunday dinner. That was just a profit meal. The turkey was out of pre cut packet. The veg was microwave and the roast potatoes were actually disgusting

Always a great time when coming to the jingling gate we there it be for food or for drinks, staff always welcoming and polite, especially Jamie Leigh and Amy. Never had a bad experience here and always love playing pool or even just coming down and chatting to other faces around the pub.

Have been a few times and I’ve never been disappointed. Every time I enter I’m welcomed by staff and they are always happy to have a nice conversation while they pour the drinks. Great customer service and that’s before we even receive the food. After ordering and starting to eat somebody will always come over and ask if everything is okay rather than waiting for the customer to make the first move. Always love coming here. Couldn’t recommend any more for anybody looking for a family friendly pub or even a dog friendly pub. I’ve noticed Alex and Danielle are always working hard too and always say hello or goodbye.

Went in for a family meal and more than pleased with the result, great food with even greater staff, Alex and Amy were more than welcoming. I had a lovely time, the food was served quick and hot, everyone had a great time. Staff should receive excellent praise for being so accommodating. Will definitely go again :)

Took my Grand daughter whose 16 here for lunch today as she was starving, I ordered gammon egg and pineapple - hubby had the fish and chips and leah had the Brunch burger which was enormous with fries and onion rings and i can honestly say it was 100 % for hungry bellies - it was delicious and very well presented and the staff were all friendly and polite - it was a lovely relaxing lunch so thank you to the chef and the bar staff that is why you got 5 stars today well deserved

Just had seafood _ prawns and salmon with new potatoes ( there was also the option for chips). Portion was of good size and the salmon was cooked to perfection. ( unlike a more local eatery where it is overcooked). Staff were really friendly. Food was cooked to order so really fresh. Thank you

We had a family gathering of around 30 people with buffet and we were well looked after. An area was cordoned off for us and a fabulous buffet served. The food was fantastic and there was more than enough. Staff were great. We were given boxes to take left over food away with us. I can highly recommend this pub and their staff.
