Amended review from second visitBreakfast service is terrible, staff very unwelcoming. They are definitely understaffed and busy but that's no excuse for the lack of service, unacceptable wait and having others served before us.Buffet service is infinitely better in our experience. This place is decent for food later in the day but we won't be back for breakfast.

Visited on Mother’s Day and wish we hadn’t. I’ve awarded one star and that’s only because the staff were lovely but the food was terrible. 2 of us ordered from menu and 1 had carvery. When the first meal came out I went to collect my carvery, when I returned to the table my daughters meal still hadn’t arrived. We waited 5 minutes before I went and asked where the meal was. It was then brought out 5 minutes later. The plate and food were piping hot, the sauce was still bubbling and really runny, was clear it had been sat in the oven the whole time. My food from the carvery on the other hand was cold. The clientele were like Jeramy Kyle guests with kids running all over, back and forth to the drinks machine. Drinks machine was sticky all over the touch screen.Overall awful food, awful service and loud unpleasant atmosphere. We wanted to enjoy a nice family meal to celebrate Mother’s Day instead got disappointment. We will not return!

Spent one of the best weekends here at the hotel. Came down for breakfast and found it to be a very pleasant experience. The waitress who served us on both occasions was the lovely Sharon so bright and bubbly but couldn’t sing for toffee but she brightened up my morning

Supposed to have a medium rare sirloin steak, it was not, it had no taste and it was extremely salty. The chips must have been the cheapest frozen ones they could find!! again no taste and dry as sticks. The staff were lovely but I would not recommend the food at all.

Smashing pub. Excellent service Friday evening , was very busy but staff remained professional. We stayed past 11. Had a nice chat a with a polite young man who was telling us about his plans to become a doctor he was there up until the very end off our visit . Didn’t catch his name ; Glad too say food was excellent we were recommend the smothered platter , we both got it and it was very well presented and tasted even better. Nice too see manager on the restaurant floor helping . Very nice also too see staff laughing and joking with customers and one another towards the end off the night even though they’d clearly been rushed off their feet . Genuinely a nice atmosphere. If we could rate higher we would , thanks for sweets and voucher ! See you again very soon .

1st visit but it won't be our last. Called in on spec and weren't disappointed. Service was fantastic. Food amazing. We both had the smothered chicken followed by profiterole sundaes

Great for the kids with soft play indoors. Food quality isn't the best , to long under the heat lamps, food dry and stringy. Service is so slow and staff not very helpful. Restaurant was empty so the wait and service we had was shocking. Family of four, ÂŁ50 meal wasn't worth ÂŁ30 would of been an angry man if I paid ÂŁ51. Sorry but won't be back any time soon

Booking for 2 tables 14 people in total, ordered variety of starters and mains some of the starters were over cooked (chicken goujons) didn't mention as wasn't the end of the world, after waiting an age for our mains the cottage pie had been under the heat lamps for to long, the burger was extremely well cooked, the chicken over cooked and the mixed grill had raw eggs asked to have the mixed grill sorted and was returned with cooked eggs placed on to the old steak that had raw egg on it i obviously didn't eat it and received a refund for the mixed grill and the cottage pie. We will not be returning to this restaurant again in the future even though i was happy with the refund but the over all experience and service leaves a lot to be desired

It was 27 th Dec arrived just too late for breakfast. The manager said get the continental part then got two fresh piping hot breakfasts for us. All staff were cheerful and he asked us about our future plans for the day Showed a real interest in us making us feel very welcome
