Too few staff so service is slow. Food is pretty good and the ‘special’ menu is good value, however they really stitch you up on the drinks, £5.95 for a pint of Cobra is a pi55 take.

Had a lovely meal with my brother and his wife. We had different mains and there were no complaints, the lamb and chicken were very tender and there was a good amount of mushroom in the pilau. A small complaint there were only two choices of white wine, the house white or Sauvignon Blanc.

Had my first take away from here, after my Father had recommended the food and has been getting a chicken madras regularly. He did advise me its spicier than a madras from most other places, but the blend of flavour and spice level is absolutely spot on.Cannot recommend the Gate strongly enough and sadly I'm only in Tyneside a couple of occasions a year. Could you open a branch in Norfolk, given that our local curry houses there are below average......Anyway, absolutely superb 👌

This is a very nice place to eat lovely Indian food. The restaurant is a clean and well presented restaurant. The service from staff is very good and very friendly with lovely food to go with it. I would highly recommend going for a family meal, with friends or a takeout. I will definitely be going back 👍

We went for a walk on Tynemouth beach with the intention of getting something to eat afterwards and ended up here. I love Indian food and my wife knows it. Having never stepped foot in the place before we didn't know what to expect. We are both vegetarian and there was plenty on the menu to satisfy the both of us. Many of the curries can be substituted with vegetables. I had a vegetable vindaloo and a Tarka dall side dish and my wife had a Tarka dall main dish and a sag baji. I enjoyed my vegetable vindaloo but unfortunately, the Tarka dall lacked flavour (in particular coriander and garlic) which as a main dish was not too good. The meal was very reasonably priced but the establishment was a little tired and dated. I am sure that it will appeal to some of the locals.

Great food! Best curry I have ever had. Vegetable rice was delicious, passanda king prawns were exquisite. Impeccable cleanliness. Corteus staff, but they could have reccomended some dishes or wine and be more conversational with customers. It is all very reasonably priced, I will definately return.
