M and S Cafe in North Tyneside

Always good quality and reasonable price with a M&S cafe! Gets very busy at lunch time but has hundreds of tables and lots of servers. Despite that we did wait about 30 minutes for our order.

Have a rest during shopping. Comfortable and relax.

Tried honey comb latte with it milk. It was smooth and velvety. Good mix of caffeine with as usual high quality of fresh coffee beans. Will visit again for high tea during summer sale.

Food tasty. Just too busy too be enjoyable. Service not bad, but not good. Overall... just ok.

Absolutely delicious ham and cheese toastie, which was delivered to our table quickly. The fully loaded hot chocolate is simply heaven in a mug. The cafe was really busy, despite having a massive seating area, they could have easily made it double the size and it would still very full and with food and drink that good it's hardly surprising it is so popular.

Good store with friendly staff and good service waiting for 30min and was giving a free drink for waiting would recommend to visit well done staff.

Nice place to spend your time in the afternoon with a cup of coffee. But always with long queues.

I used to love this place, (adopts Alan Sugar voice) so it is with some regret that I give the M&S Cafe a one star review. Thing is, this cafe used to have a fine array of meals, and was my favourite place to get some decent food when out and about during the day in the town centre. Fish and Chips, Pies, Chicken Penang curry, All Day Breakfast, and more besides, but now there's very little of substance. The menu looks like it's designed for people that aren't really that hungry. The last time I went in, I couldn't see one thing on the menu that appealed. What was quite strange, was the sheer number of options that included Ciabatta. Now, I don't mind Ciabatta, but I tried it here once and it was practically rock solid. They used to serve a decent Chicken Burger here, now you can only get Chicken on - you guessed it - Ciabatta. I asked if I could just have Chicken on a standard bun, but it wasn't happening. Ciabatta says no. Does the manager of M&S Cafe have shares in Ciabatta? It's just wrong. I mean, I'm certainly no Ciabatta-phobe, but enough is enough. I'm not asking that you turn your back on Ciabatta, just that we have a little more, y'know, diversity. I don't go in now, which is a real shame, because the atmosphere is great, the drinks are great, the staff are great, the Ciabatta is, well, not so great, but until something is done about the menu, I'll be going elsewhere.
