Pantrinis Fish Restaurant in North Tyneside

Not happy we had to share a pot of tea when we both paid separately for our teas! We were offered a top up but water was added to the same used teabags instead of fresh tea bags. My daughter had to ask for her buttered bread and sauces that she'd already paid for and didn't come with her meal so service could have been better. Chips were cold compared to the freshly cooked chips.

We had a lovely fish and chip meal. had to wait ages on our bread and had to remind them to bring it. It was scruffy and I had to clean the table. Probably wouldn't sit in again.

Visited at 7:45pm place looked closed but I could see a member of staff so tried the door and asked member of staff who was busy cleaning. After establishing they were open I stood at the counter to order my takeaway but couldn't see a menu anywhere. Felt stupid asking if they did this and that and the unfriendly, stern lady (the one with the long ponytail) didn't help the matter. On ordering, nothing was written down or entered into the till and I could hear the lady asking her colleague for items that were close to what I'd ordered but wrong so I interjected to be told they were for someone else... again made to feel stupid. Eventually a younger lady appeared to assemble the order, she was friendly and warm and what I'd come to expect from the locals. She double checked everything and took payment. Took the food back to the caravan and found that the sausage ordered was Battered which is a big no no for my Mother in law as she suffers with digestive tract disorder which is badly triggered by Batter. The fish was beautiful, my steak pie was dry with the crust hard and pretty much inedible. The chips were ok though. Had had high expectations of this place to only be greatly let down, maybe it was too early in the season or too late in the evening, either way if you can't provide good food and service then don't open.

The staff were lovely, and the food and portions were great, but it was was pretty pricey to sit in, and tables in the upstairs seating area are all scuffed and scratched. I don't expect chandeliers and champagne at a seaside chippy, but for that price, you do expect a nicer environment to eat in.

Wouldn’t recommend if you want good service or good food. Ordered the chicken burger chips which literally just had a deep fried chicken piece in a burger bun. No sauce of any kind. Not even a tomato to try and moisten it up…Also extortionately priced for what you get. We spent £21 on this and a fish and chips with mushy peasI don’t like to give reviews like this but something needed to be said. Hopefully the owners take note

Lovely food and helpful / attentive staff.We visited here for sit in fish and chips after the pantomime and couldn’t have been better looked after. Ordered quickly and served within 10mins with piping hot delicious food. Beautiful fish in a light batter and great chips. Pensioner was catered for with small portion alongside tea, bread & butter and the kids also had a lovely meal. Staff were attentive and looked after us really well, especially pointing out the I Spy game on the menu!!Pantrinis is a Whitley Bay institution run by the same family for years and it is pleasing to see the current owners really tapping into that history.

fish and chips (cod) were delicious the service was excellent, he went out of his way to make potato fritters. large portions and fair price.

We came here for fish and chips with my daughter and my parents, our first Impression was a smartly looking place with a takeout section to the side, we wanted to sit in so decided to sit upstairs. It's has 14 tables with interesting pictures on the walls from days gone by. We took our seat and got comfortable, the first thing we all noticed as we got settled was the sticky tables, I checked the towers incase it was just that the tables hadn't been cleaned, but to no avail, they were all sticky.We tried to ignore this and ordered anyway, when the food came it was really good, excellent fish, excellent chips, very fresh, large portions too. They did forget our mushy peas, tea and bread, they brought the peas and tea when asked, couldn't be bothered asking a third time for the bread.In conclusion I would advise that this place gets their tables sorted as this was quite off putting, could do with staff being a little more conscious too, great food, average service and cleanliness.

Just ordered a takeaway for the family and our visitors and the silence spoke volumes. The food was delicious. The cod was cooked perfectly, light battered and succulent. The portion sizes were generous and the Irish curry sauce was thick, spicy and the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Our guests commented on how it was the best fish and chips they’ve ever had. Thank you so much. We’ll certainly be ordering again.
