📍Riley's Fish Shack, TynemouthWith almost 1800 reviews and a 4.6 star rating in Google Reviews, this bar & grill is clearly amongst the top favourite restaurants in Tynemouth. Located at the beautiful King Edward's Bay, having a meal here directly facing the bay was a most picturesque experience.Despite the cuisine being on a the pricier side (dishes were generally 20 quid and above), the pleasant experience made it entirely worth it. The happy vibes and friendly staff, the amazing view, the ambience, the cool sea breeze caressing our skin, and the delicious food; just great. We ordered the 'Salted Hot Plate Hake' with Caper Butter, Potatoes, Salad and Sourdough. Grilled in wood-fire ovens, the Hake came out piping hot; it was fresh, and salted perfectly. With the culmination of herbs in the salad, char-grilled lemon and the freshly baked sourdough, it was a holistic dish. The diner next to me exclaimed that this is one of their favourite stalls. I love how Michelle and I stumbled upon this gem in Tynemouth; a spot I'd definitely visit again when I visit beautiful Tynemouth.

Amazing experience dining in a converted shipping container on the beach. Our table had its own wood burner so definitely cosy. Great menu offers fresh local seafood cooked in an excellent and varied style with flatbreads/flour dough/potatoes etc... beautiful flavour combinations... definitely worth a visit but you must book!!

Food, view, experience, staff, drinks were all amazing. I got the cod with lentil and black pudding and it was heavenly comfort food. Nothing beats eating brilliant food next to a roaring fire and listening to the ocean waves. Loved it.

What an incredible place. The food was stunning. The Langoustines we're so sweet, and the Turbot Chop Masala, wow, that was perfect. Decent beers and wine list, can't fault this place.

This place was recommended by a family member so we booked whilst on holiday near 60 miles away . We visited the establishment on the 4th November 2021 . It was a cold day around 7.5 c , the place is accurately called a shack , it is situated at the foot of an embankment facing the north sea in Tynmouth . It was a surprise to find the seating facing the sea exposed only covered by a canopy , the seating is cramped shoulder to shoulder the seating is in the style of a bar stool with a cold metal seat in my opinion not suitable for comfortable sitting in such cold weather. I noticed some covered seating was available but would think this would need special booking if you wanted to eat in comfort .I had place with prawns accompanied barbecued diced & spiced potatoes with a variety of spiced veg & salad . For me the cold chill together with the exposed ambient temperature the over liberal use of oil the fish was sitting in and the chilled side accompaniment and the take away style cardboard containers with wood knife & fork spoiled the eating enjoyment. For me it left me feeling unsatisfied and underwhelmed sorry regretfully i could not recommend this eating establishment .

Fish is amazing and great quality. The selection is very broad for fish so don’t go if you want something none fish based. The heated fire pits in the winter and having it dog friendly is a nice touch too. Would definitely come back.

We’ve planned to come here for the past month, eventually managed to book a table. The waiting staff are nice, but we had to wait quite long before getting seated. The seats are quite low so it was a bit hard to eat, I had to stand.Food was excellent, we have ordered lobster and squid. The lobster was very fresh. However, it is way too pricy. The lobster was 44 pounds, and we were expecting a bigger lobster. The cutlery was not great, we had plastic cups and wooden disposable cutleries. Along with the wind at the beach, they can be blown away. The staff were friendly, however the service was not special and the waiting time was long and there was a service charge of 10%, which I didn’t think should be there. The staff did say it was optional though when one of my friends pointed it out.Overall, if you have money and you would like some fresh seafood at the beach, this is a good place. However, for myself I do not plan to go back, and would not recommend this place to my friends.

Incredible!Higher than your usual price range, we came here for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. When we first arrived it was pouring with rain, but this was no problem as the parasols for eachtable were plenty big enough to keep us hidden from the elements. The beach setting is stunning and so different from any other restaurant you'd go to.I adore that the menu changes each day depending on what has been caught. The quality of the food was absolutely incredible and totally worth the price. The mixed sides that the fish came with were all clearly fresh and made in restaurant and made for a meal neither of us could quite finish. The staff were wonderful and we had an excellent time.If we found ourselves that far north again we would 100% visit again and take others with us.

What a hidden gem! The food is incredible, and what an atmosphere sat on the beach! Staff are very friendly and helpful.. We travelled 2.5hours for Riley's Fish Shack and we were not disappointed. 100% recommend this place for any seafood lover.

Booked online a few weeks prior, turned up and instantly seated. Service was spot on and the food was top quality, I had the crispy skin halibut and her indoors had the fish cake and mixed salad as extra. The halibut was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were very crispy and crunchy, just unbelievable. We had ice cream with lemon meringue and shortbread for dessert which we just about finished as we were stuffed. This place is definitely worth a visit!
