Seaded sourdough is lush - give it a go

Lovely range of foods from around Northumberland, and freshest organic vegetables. Ordered my Christmas capon while there. Odd encounter with a member of staff lead to only 4 stars. And that was one visit. Mostly very happy to shop at a well stocked enterprising business

Popped in on a whim. It’s a place we keep seeing and threatening to go to but never get round to it.Until today. I’m really glad we did. Their deli sandwiches are to die for and their selection of artisanal and farm to shop produce is great. We even picked up a panettoni for Christmas too.Well deffo be back as we are new to the area.

This place is the real heart of Tynemouth. I have been coming here for years. Exceptional food with the highest standard of produce. Sue and the other ladies are warm, witty and really care for their customers. These sort of shops are the real lifeblood of local villages.

I visited yesterday I picked some items to buy from outside and entered the store the door was open. I got told off soon as I opened the door saying they didn’t open till 10.am I didn’t know what time it was exactly but had travelled some distance. I apologised saying I hadn’t realised, and was expected to leave, I did sat I’d travelled some distance and I left the shop and put my items back in the basket of fruit and veg outside the deli and left. I got back in my car and realised it was 9:55 so five minutes to opening. It was a really shame they didn’t value my custom enough to serve me five minutes before opening. After all the shop door wasn’t locked and the items were proudly on display outside the shop waiting to be sold.My family have been in the retail business for 40 years plus, never would or have we ever shown such lack of regard for customers or turned someone away for walking into our shop five minutes before opening. Especially if we had items outside implying we were open for business and our door wasn’t locked. In fact on occasions we have simply opened the shop earlier if we are in setting up and someone wants to buy something. It wasn’t like I was walking in an hour before opening. It was five minutes. I had to rush back to take care of my disabled sister, but aside from that I’d not go back in there given the ladies lack of regard.When high streets are struggling and people are buying more things online or from supermarkets, is it any wonder when you have some people who give little value to customers who come in. Her tone, approach and lack of customer value will not have me returning nor will I recommend to friends or family. Brings a bad name to independent retailers. A real shame, I hope they listen to feedback and improve their customers service skills.

Lovely gem of a delicatessen. The most delicious cheeses, jams, preserves etc. Gluten free, vegan, and organic options of most produce also.

Their homemade quiche and sausage rolls are amazing, but they do sell out so get there early.
