Visiting while on Holiday. Friendly helpful staff.Carvery was brilliant, everything cooked to perfection. We love carvery' s but this one is the best we have ever had. Thank you. We highly recommend this pub.

We visited just as lunch service was starting so there were very few customers, however before we left it was starting to get busy.It is fully accessible for those with mobility issues and in wheelchairs without assistance. We had the carvery at £9.85 each, which was real value for money. I had a slice of the Gammon (a little salty for my taste) but cut like butter, the Beef cooked medium (I prefer med/rare) was juicy and tender and the Turkey, like the Gammon, cut like butter and was succulent. The veg was plentiful well cooked, the butted carrots a triumph, the real gravy morish, stuffing balls superb and horseradish sauce good enough to clear your nose.Although I have indicated my meat preference, it should not detract from the good food, plesent surrounding and keen prices. The staff and chef were helpful, courteous and friendly. The décor is plesently neutral and the cleaning spotless. The view on the cliff side is beautiful.Overall we were very impressed and would recommend anyone to eat here. We would also like to big up the kitchen and it's staff for the standard of food.

I was chatting to a lady in Leeds a week ago and mentioned that we were going Tynemouth, she said have your dinner in the Gibraltar, it's fantastic, well today we went to Newcastle, caught the metro to Tynemouth, and eat at this cracking restaurant/ pub. We are both visually impaired, Caroline more than me, the young man behind the carvery was superb, he helped Caroline choose her food and brought it over to the table. We're both very very impressed with pub,the Sea view and a beautiful little village of Tynemouth.

Went for Sunday lunch recently but opted for fish & chips.whsh I hadn't!! The fish was ok but it it was placed on top of a pile of greasy pre boiled potatoes with skins in them deep fried.come on a chip is a chip not a deep fried part boiled potato .my partner had the carvery which was edible...Alan monkseaton

Of all the years passing I don't think I've ever been in, but stopped in for a coffee on Sunday. It's quite small and difficult to get in for wheelchair users but you can get in non the less. Really nice inside and felt pretty cozy.

We brought a large group to the Gibraltar Rock for lunch and the service and food were both good. The majority of our group had the fish and chips and it was well received.

They squeezed us in without a booking for a table of 9 on a Sunday. They were tremendously accommodating. This is the second time we've visited and the carvery was wonderful both times. The kids all devoured their lunches. There will definitely be a next visit and I hope that time to get a seat with an ocean view rather than a road view. Although perhaps the road-side is kept for the larger groups and families.

We booked here for Sunday lunch while hosting family from down south, haven't been in many years, but it's always had a great reputation. The menu was varied, even on a Sunday, there was plenty choice with people from the party ordering things like sweet chilli chicken wraps, fish and chips, to pie and of course the well known carvery, I had the carvery myself and it was lovely, meat and veg all fresh and everyone else was more than happy with their food too, apparently the fish was one of the nicest they had ever had! Most people finished with a dessert, I had the chocolate brownie, which was probably up there with the nicest I have ate, drizzled in white chocolate, beautiful! The staff were also friendly and attentive, which means alot, really looking forward to paying a visit again, the views alone from the window are worth it.

Feels like more of a restuarant than a pub. Table service and bill at the end or you can just buy drinks at the bar as usual. Good views of the priory and the sea at the back of the pub to the right as you go in the door.Food was lovely and didn't take long to arrive. Good service and friendly staff. There's a carvery at the weekend but we had the lunch menu with a select number of dishes at a range of prices.
