Hire people say they will train them then dont how can anyone become a chef when they dont get shown what they need to do they just get left to do anything.

This place used to be good.Today, our (adult) children took us for a meal, for Mother's Day. We waited over an hour, after ordering the food, before some of it arrived. Some of the orders were wrong. One wrong dish wasn't even on the menu.Luckily my wife and I had the Sunday vegetarian option. The main part was nice. BUT: some vegetables undercooked {e.g. sprouts too hard to cut).Others were not so lucky. The beef was too tough to cut {also a complaint from other people at other tables}.Compliments to the person serving us, who was calm and professional in dealing with the problems {the reason for 2 stars instead of just one}

Some serious problems in the kitchen. After waiting over an hour, (other customers who arrived after us had already had their meals and left before ours turned up), two of the meals were not what we ordered so that delayed things even more. However we were given a free round of drinks for having to wait so long and the price of the wrong meals taken off the bill.Once we had all got our food it wasn't good, the veg, especially the sprouts, was rock hard and nearly impossible to cut. The roast beef was like slices of leather and impossible to cut up!Our bill was completely wiped so we didn't pay a penny, same happened to the customers on the table next to us.Didn't attempt dessert.

Hadn't been for a while and was pleasantly surprised. Nice and warm on a cold afternoon, staff pleasant, attentive and efficient. Menu mostly standard pub fare. We went for the sharer platter between us breaded chicken pieces, battered mushrooms, onion rings (which we couldn't finish!) followed by a sundae each, me the Eton mess version, hubby the Oreo cookie one, which we both thoroughly enjoyed, mine had plenty of fresh strawberries. Overall good value for money! Will be going back to try the golden years menu, only £4.99 for two courses for the over 60's, £6.99 if you add a dessert!

Called in for tea, nice quiet bar / restaurant with outside seating at the rear, ordered one butter milk chicken burger, one Katsu chicken burger and one steak and chicken combo, all meals were fine and the steak was cooked just as ordered (well done), staff were friendly, asked if meals were OK, if you want nice pub grub and good friendly service I'd recommend the Hunting lodge.

Stopped here on whilst visiting in the area. Pub was clean and tidy and staff were very polite. Food was served quickly and was very hot and plentiful. The prices were also very good. Will definitely be visiting again.

Had a great time meeting up with friends who have traveled all the way from Spain. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and hot drinks, but the service was second to none. We were really well looked after by the staff and the regulars were very friendly and welcoming. Our first visit despite living close by for a number of years, but it won’t be the last. Thank you
