If you need a break or change of scenery is it so relaxing best place I have ever stayed in

Historical hotel, associated with LS Lowry, nicely refurbished but sadly no food provision.

I stayed here at short notice for 1 night on a work trip. The good: staff were very friendly. The hotel is well located for the train station. The room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast was pretty good. The bad: They no longer serve food in the evenings, a recent change apparently. The bedroom was very small and sparsely (and slightly strangely) decorated. I don't know what the other rooms were like so this may not be the case generally. The full width plywood headboard was a bit odd. But this is all trivial stuff really. The reason I have only given 3 stars is the lack of a blind or curtain on the bathroom window which was directly overlooking the train station! Being able to actually see people sat on a train whilst preparing to get in the shower is not ideal. There are some partial privacy panels within the glass but they do not offer anywhere near enough privacy. So had to improvise some curtains using jackets and coat hangers etc.

Comfortable surroundings. Lovely open fire. No choice of real ale on handpull. Hence 3 stars. More proper ale more stars.

Excellent hotel, whose team go the extra mile and then some. They serve a great breakfast and having stayed three times now over recent years I can't recommend them enough.

The staff were really nice, friendly and welcoming. Our group were seated in a private room for a dinner reservation. The vegetarian options for food were limited, though my meal tasted ok. Unfortunately the meat-based meals were not greatly enjoyed by our group. The menu was on stapled non-laminated paper and several copies were printed and given to our group. An environmentally unfriendly practice of the business. Hygienically (especially in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic), this paper would have then needed to go to landfill. Not to be crass, though the restaurant didn't really feel like—a restaurant. It was more similar to an old Victorian school building than a welcoming place to eat.Perhaps if you are already staying in the hotel arm of the business, the restaurant would be a quick and convenient place to grab something to eat. Unfortunately for me, it wasn't a great experience.Note: this review is only for the restaurant arm of the business; I did not stay in the hotel or use the hotel facilities.

The hotel is located opposite the railway station and bus stops. It's just on the edge of town . It's a short walk to both the town centre and the beach. It has a nice bar and socially distanced restaurant. Breakfast was unexciting but well cooked and presented. I booked a superior room but it was just a standard room - very new looking. There was just enough room for one. The bathroom was nice and clean. I thought the staff were friendly and helpful.

Am very pleased that I chose this hotel, it is top class, comfy beds, relatively spacious bathroom, everything clean, and modern.Tea, coffee milk provided in room, which can be replenished on request.Breakfast was included, and evening meals have to be booked. My only slight criticism was the coffee at breakfast, for me it needed to be stronger!AND...it is a stones throw from Berwick Station, so convenient .

Comfortable room with everything you need plus the best en suite ever...a large shower area with a normal flexible shower head plus a rain shower shower head. Good quality towels and so good to have a bath towel of the correct size.Toiletries supplied were above average, friendly staff, good sized breakfast, small evening menu but the chicken in cheese sauce was good, although the tinned peas were a bit of a surprise
