Black Swan in Northumberland

Friendly staff but that's where it ends.Grubby pub terrible accommodation, no wardrobe or drawers to put clothes in, filthy bathroom, tiny room more like a cupboard,can only walk around bed in a 'crab' style, lots of noise from ladies toilets and the handryer from there permeates like a pneumatic drill. Avoid!

Popped in for a drink before dinner nearby. Good range of beers. Music OK. Went with 10 friends and they had space at 7.30pm Saturday

Popped in for an afternoon pint. It was very quiet but staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other than serving. Couldn't readily tell me which real ales were on. Pint I had was off. Persevered but it didn't improve. Left it and left!

Huge value for money and great location for a holiday. Lovely staff , great breakfast and traditional pub. Comfortable rooms that face onto the main road.

Found me a room at last minute which was fantastic. Great place to stay, clean and excellent location over looks the castle if you get the right room. Reasonable price and great pub. Not serving bar food at the mo but breakfast was excellent. All in really enjoyed my stay.

We stayed for two nights and had a great time. The location is a few minutes walk from the castle and near plenty of restaurants, the price was good for the rooms and the breakfast was delicious could not fault it.The service also was superb and Scott made us feel very welcome and accommodating. I'd go back there again.

It's a very well managed place. The room is very small, and it's not the poshiest of places; could definitely do with some renovation. However, it was good value for money, considering it's a tourist location and we got served breakfast which was included in the price. The breakfast was delicious and very filling.Overall, I'm very impressed as to how well the place is managed; it met all our basic needs and we were very happy with the service. Thank you!

The Black Swan is a lovely pub with a lot of character, and was the perfect base for us to explore the area. The rooms represent excellent value for money, and were clean, comfortable and big enough for our needs.The food was tasty and again really good value for money.The best asset of the pub has to be the staff. They were friendly, welcoming and looked after us really well during our stay.We will definitely be back.

Quick service. Pleasant servers. Busy pub, probably because the food is decent "pub grub".Very big portions. Very reasonably priced.Seating fabric is a bit tired: "sticky" and worn.Dogs are welcome, which didn't appeal to us, given that there were 3 in close proximity to our table... and it was a wet day!! I had to squeeze past one large dog to get to the toilets.Good choice of food. Folk generally around us seemed very pleased with their food - as were we.
