Carlo's in Northumberland

Popped in here while out for a Sunday evening drive and was over the moon to see they had black pudding on the menu,but on this occasion I was out of luck as there was none left.Lovely traditional British chip shop,not a lot of these places left.Lovely staff,spotlessly clean.

Fish and Chips - can't complain, decent and generous sized portions. The ice cream however is one of the best I've tasted. Had the Kinder flavour, and when finished wished I'd got a bigger tub 🙂 Steps up in to the shop, can get a little crowded with people queueing and waiting for their order - only one of their doors is in use currently. Parking available outside.

I bought 2x sausage and chips today and the portion size was absolutely ridiculous, it wouldn’t of fed a child. I used to come here when I was younger and it was amazing, wish the value for money was better. Would not recommend anymore

Taken to this place by a friend who said "you'll love it". He wasn't wrong. Lush !!! Crispy batter,gorgeous real chips and extremely tasty. Lovely vibe and great staff too. .A star

We tend to stay away from chippies, but this one is a great one, so whenever we’re in Alnwick we stop by, either for fish and chips, or for a sneaky gelato. Both are very good.Fresh, tasty, well cooked, and served by friendly staff.The restaurant has additional seating upstairs (and the toilet is up there too).We highly recommend this place.

Decided on Carlo's for lunch and so glad we did! Simply perfect food and such friendly staff. I ordered the cod meal deal....wow the cod was huge, served on a fish shaped plate with mushy peas, tartare sauce, a slice of fresh bread & butter and a pot of tea. My husband had battered sausage, chips and gravy. Both meals were cooked to order so they were fresh, hot and so very tasty. We would recommend Carlo's and we will be back. Thank you.

This is both a restaurant and a takeaway, we used the restaurant, I ordered the Carlos special cod and chips £12 and the jumbo sausage meal deal £6.80 (Nov 2021)The Carlos special is cod, chips, mushy peas or curry sauce, tartar sauce, bread and butter and tea or coffee, the jumbo sausage includes chips, peas or curry sauce and a can of pop..The food was very good, the fish nice and fresh the batter very light, I have had slightly better, chips were decent although they could have been warmer, the premises were very clean we used the upstairs which has 4 well spaced tables, the staff were very good and overall I would definitely use again

Lovely staff, beautiful chips and soooo generous with the mushy peas. Partner loved the fish and chips and again huge portion and huge ice cream. Great prices. Definitely recommend
