We got cod and small chips with a portion of scampi to share. The chips were proper chips cut from potatoes and the small portion size was still a lot, perfection. The medium fish were huge as a tall guy who likes to eat I found this way too much but couldn’t fault batter or fish. The scampi was lovely as well. If you wan old world fish and chips done properly no corners cut here’s the place. Highly recommend.

The Best Fish And Chips I Have Ever Tasted!!Away in Amble for a week and I'm so pleased we went here... I would even drive 2hrs from home just for these Fish And Chips!

Called in today and was horrified by the male member of staff. He was shouting at the lady serving with him, being exceedingly rude and unprofessional in front of myself and other customers. I'm surprised the female member of staff didn't walk out. She has served me many times and is always polite, efficient and very friendly, unlike the disgusting display by the male cooking. And as for your fish n chips, if you put as much effort into your cooking as you do your yelling at coworkers, maybe your batter wouldn't be soggy and your chips wouldn't still be raw!

Fish was greasy and chips dry. Very disappointed after paying over ÂŁ25 for 3 x fish and chips. Used to be a good chippy but have had much better elsewhere.

As others have noted, this place seems to constantly have a queue of waiting customers, and judging by our experience I can see why. The food itself is pretty good, lovely crisp batter (although as others have noted it can be a little greasy) and the chips were tasty. Portion sizes are definitely on the large size, I tried a large Cod and it was as big as two of my hands put together! The staff seem to do a fantastic job of getting people through, especially when multiple people come in asking for "Seven fish and chips please" one after the other.

Called in after reading the many 5 star reviews. Sadly, extremely disappointed! Fish batter undercooked, fish dry and mostly grey in colour plus had not been filleted properly, loads of bones. Chips, although the small portion size was large, chips had obviously been made with old potatoes as loads of eyes and dark patches, very dry as though they had been the lunchtime leftovers warmed up. Most ended up in the bin, total waste of money.

Fantastic chippy! I ordered pie and chips but I saw another customer purchase fish and chips and the fish was massive. Went at lunch time, around 12:30pm and it was busy (quite rightly so). Chips were nice and hot, a good portion. The pie was chicken and mushroom and very nice also. Staff are brilliant and friendly too. Will defo be popping back to this place the next time I am in Amble.

Long queue proof of popularity, worth the wait. Chips were great, sausage and fish tasty and the batter is beautifully crispy. Would definitely recommend!

Best fish and chips in decades! Huge portions, freshly cooked to order. Too big for us - should have had a small chips. Fish was perfectly cooked - batter crisp and light. Not fatty. Place very clean and staff very good. What more can I say?!
