Market Tavern in Northumberland

First time I've been there, I had 10oz steak with peppercorn sauce and chips. My partner had the loaded mushrooms with goats cheese. Main course was brilliant and very flavoursome. I followed the main with sticky toffee pudding and custard. Very delicious, and the proof definitely was in the pudding.If you are looking for a place to go, you definitely need to try this place. The staff were polite and welcoming. The atmosphere was great amd vibrant. The location is very nice and well situated in the town centre, very easy to find.Would definitely come back here and try something else. I couldn't eat everything I wanted to try as there was too many as the menu was fantastic.

The Market Tavern restaurant was a wonderful find. Not only is it dog friendly, but the staff is more than welcoming, receiving you as family with excellent service. There is a variety of options to choose from, but all of them deliver with a thrilling presentation and tantalising flavour.The portions are more than value for money, I stuffed my eyes and my face with great quality at excellent prices.Am so full now that I am just ordering desert to see it they delivered throughout.And they so did, the proof is in the pudding.....

Really great service, they couldn't have been more helpful. The food was really nice, good sized portions and the chips were proper pub chips. We will be back.

Lovely welcome from staff. Very attentive. The Sunday menu was a bit limited if you don't want Sunday Roast but the food we had was lovely. Very reasonable prices. Decor comfortable and clean

Love the Tav. Great folk, good atmosphere, Sunday lunch is spot on. The Sirloin roast is really good. I prefer to sit in the bar than the back. It's busy and rightly so, recommended.

Having enjoyed a day out with my wife we decided to drop in atAlnwick and opted for the Market Tavern. We were not disappointed, we both went for the belly pork on a bed of mash with buttered cabbage.It was superb, the generous lump of pork was topped with a delicious piece of perfectly cooked crackling.Added to this was a side of splendid fresh onion rings. We would definitely return and highly recommend this pub.

Called in on the off chance they would have a table for 4 to get us out of the rain. It was already pretty busy and we had three dogs but they made space for us. Not a great choice of larger in my opinion (Stella, carling and San Miguel on draft) but no issue. All ordered chicken burger and it was delicious didn’t eat again for the rest of the day it was such a good portion! Staff were friendly, couldn’t have asked for a better impromptu pub lunch

Amazing food, great service and brilliant for the kids, we were all very happy with everything, the bar and restaurant were both clean and the atmosphere is brilliant, would highly recommend to anybody wanting nice food in alnwick. Well done to the staff who made it the best meal for us all even though it was very busy xx

We booked into the restaurant on Monday 13 December for lunch after our Wedding at Alnwick Registry Office.There were 7 adults and 2 toddlers.I genuinely cannot recommend the food, service and staff highly enough.Gorgeous food ranging from steaks, chops, sausages, fish and kids meals.BRILLIANT!!!

What a great surprise. I looked in the window, saw the menu and went in. I never do that. I always look places you first, except on this occasion.Great homely feel in the bar area. We received a warm welcome when we arrived. We went through to a dining area behind the bar. It was clean, organized and nicely decorated.We ordered a burger, prawn sandwich and the beef brisket. All were not great, but outstanding.Burger, double patty, relish, bacon all cooked perfectly nice and hot. Great fries.Prawn cocktail sandwich was also great. Just what it needed to be. Plenty of prawns.The beef brisket was the winner. The mash was well seasoned and creamy, the beef was braised and still juicy. The gravy/jus was just right and there was plenty.Great value. Great warm staff throughout. We will go back to Alnwick just to eat thereIt is a shame they there was no tip option on the credit card machine. Not sure when that option is not available. We had some cash but I am sure many won’t and the team deserve a tip for such warmth and attentive service.
