Nice food and a venue lovely inside. However the service let it down.We had booked a table, but after being sat with menus for 20+ minutes were told “you can’t order yet, there’s a backlog in the kitchen!”Our food eventually arrived 1hr 20mins after we were seated. During that time, no one asked us if we wanted another drink. Even after I asked to look at the drinks menu, still no one took our order for a second drink. We were also promised water for the table, which never materialised. We were sat my the station where staff input the orders etc. and quite often one or more members of staff were just stood there, so no reason why they couldn’t have been more attentive.

First time there last night The staff were great and the food was spot on . Would definitely recommend and will certainly visit again. Oh and it’s dog friendly too.

I've been visiting the area for many years and am yet to find a better pub. Food is creative and fabulous. Great selection of wine and cask beers. An overnight stay is always a treat..enjoy.

We booked and advised In advance that one of the party was in a wheelchair. It was good to see they were properly prepared when we arrived and shown to a table with adequate space for them. The menu was fully explained to us and we enjoyed a lovely lunch and quite bit to drink (for a lunchtime). The bill was correctly apportioned between the 2 parties.Fully recommend this pub especially if they put the crispy beef noodles back on the menu. Our only gripe.

What a truly spectacular unique hotel. The welcome was perfect, doors being opened, cases bought up to the room. The decor was bespoke, throughout the hotel, bar, restaurant. They were so professional and friendly. A good selection at the bar and menu. The breakfast was spot on- all the better because the chef came out later on to ask if everything was ok- it was. Delightful kippers from Swallows at Seahouses.

Great service, great food, superb atmosphere and the service and cheery welcome was exceptional. I would just like to say a massive thank you for making our Dad's 93rd birthday such a fantastic night. Many many thanks again to all the staff, and could you please forward our thanks to the Piper who piped happy birthday whilst Dad being presented with his cake. The whole restaurant joined in, it was fantastic. 💐🍻👌🥃

Great food in interesting surroundings and not too crowded. We checked out several pubs and restaurants before choosing this one for a late lunch.I had the beef with sweet chilli noodles and my partner had the fish pie - both were delicious and filling. The man who served us was very polite, helpful, friendly, and efficient. The food wasn't too long coming and the tables were well spaced, .Outside the window, a life-size artificial cow stared in at me which was entertaining if a little surreal . The cushions on the sofas adjacent to our table had attractive fox and other animal designs on them. The carpet was (Northumbrian?) tartan. All in all, it was a very pleasant room to eat in. I recommend sitting next to the window with the cow if you like quirkiness (which I do).We loved this place and will definitively come back. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Visited for Sunday lunch with friends. Looking forward to it following all the news around the new chef but really disappointed.Meal was lukewarm and portions small. Dessert menu rather dull. Brownie was 50% cream. Service again rather disappointing ..would have appreciated a smile ...they looked fed up.With all the other options available in the area....dont think we will be returning.

Very tastefully decorated restaurant. Friendly staff. The food was lovely and so nice to have something different from traditional pub grub, we had the lamb flatbread and sticky pork noodles, both were delicious 😋 and the price is reasonable.

Excellent stay recently to celebrate a special birthday. Lovely comfortable rooms with great bathrooms and fantastic walk in power showers. Food is great- so much choice at breakfast and evening meals are tasty and reasonably priced. The thing that really makes this fantastic place even better are the staff and management- they are so friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you - always happy to chat about your day, what you have done and where you have been. Can't wait to go back next year.
