Very offhand woman taking the orders. Fish was ok but the chips were barely warm. Wouldn't recommend.Post Script...They have replied to my post saying that I have the wrong chip shop! No, I havn't! This happened before their recent refurbishment. Don't bother to experience their offhand treatment of customers!

Caution: Menu prices online are nothing like prices in the shop, when staff informed, they just said prices will be going up again , so I get the impression they don't care.Not very good management or customer care .I drove down from the Roman wall, on recommendation, they must have low standards of food quality. Especially when the fish was double fried or overcooked.

Haltwhistle has two chippies, I walked in the first one & straight back out. Found Oceans a few doors away. Cod or Haddock cooked to order. We had huge portions of pure white cod steak in batter with fresh cooked chips, served in cardboard boxes to eat directly from. Delicious!! Friendly staff. Cash only.

Top quality fish and huge portions. One "standard" portion could easily serve 2 if you have only a modest appetite. Cooked to order so phone ahead if you're in a rush. Plenty of benches in the square opposite for al fresco dining. Cash only.

Genuinely, the best fish and chips I have ever had. The fish is that big it has its own Postcode. Well worth the money - don't bother going elsewhere if you're in the area.

Fabulous freshly cooked chips, great quality potatoes used, not greasy and tasted delicious. Piping hot, generous portion nicely served in a recyclable paper carton. Thank you!This take away is highly recommended.Haltwhistle is a beautiful Northumbrian town with a great selection of independent retailers selling unique products, each shop has its own personality and experience.
