Stopped by here while walking in the Coquetdale area. Had a fantastic roast beef Sunday lunch and a nice cold pint. Friendly staff and the food was excellent.

Lovely village pub. Big Sunday dinner and cold pints were very welcome after a couple nights on the hills. Very welcoming and good prices.

Ideally placed for a drink after hiking round the area🙂Dog friendly with a nice beer garden. Plenty choice of drinks, a coffee machine and bar snacks. They serve proper food too, unfortunately they had nothing left as they had been so busy. Says alot about how nice the food is😊WiFi available along with 2 pool tables.Staff really friendly too

Lovely village pub in beautiful countryside. We went for Sunday lunch with family today and it was really enjoyable.Friendly, welcoming and we were made to feel at ease on arrival.Fantastic home cooked food - delicious! Much nicer than your average pub grub!Highly recommended - give them a wee visit.

Its been a while since my last visit for obvious reasons. The same friendly staff and atmosphere , sunday lunch enough for two. I first visited in the late sixties when Angus and his missus ran the pub and an army truck would pull up outside and unload a bunch of squadies into the bar.

Nice views, wood fire, friendly staff, real ale and excellent, good value bar meals. We had a leisurely lunch. A bit remote but the rolling hills give good views and the area is nice to drive / walk or cycle if you prefer.

We stayed at a cottage in Alwinton and had four fantastic meals at The Rose and Thistle. The Sunday lunch was exceptional, I had the roast lamb... Fantastic!!! The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful.. 😀 We will definitely be visiting again, hopefully soon..
