Ours was a last minute booking after our intended hotel suffered a plumbing problem so we arrived after 9pm. But Rob was there to welcome us and explain the system. Our room in an annexe to the main building was warm and comfortable. We slept well and enjoyed pluumbing that worked! Breakfast was excellent and staff friendly'The location is wonderful and parking very convenient. We intend to explore more of the beautiful Northumberland coast in the future and hope to stay at St Aidan's again.

Absolutely everything we needed in a hotel … friendly staff who go the extra mile, quiet comfortable room, amazing choice of breakfast and freshly prepared, fabulous location with view of Bamburgh Castle and the sea and convenient parking. Home from home … perfect!

Who knew that such a place existed within this unassuming building. The food was phenomenal, the staff were exceptional, and the whole dining experience worth every penny.

Absolutely incredible! The room was beautiful and big, very clean and cozy. The view was absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. We called last minute for a booking and Rob was extremely helpful and kind. Everything about this place was perfect.

Had a lovely few days stay here, staff are amazing and so helpful, breakfast was yummy and great quality. Rooms were spotless. Although we didn't have a meal as not open on the days we were there the Bistro is said to be amazing too.

We have visited St Aidens a number of times before and had positive experiences so were looking forward to returning. However, this latest visit left a very sour taste. It's only fair to say the starters and main courses were nicely cooked and tasty and the service had been friendly and attendant. It's only dessert and what followed that has left this as a poor experience. We ordered 3 cheesecakes for dessert which were priced around £7 each, which is what one would expect price wise in a bistro for a nice piece of homemade cheesecake.Unfortunately what arrived was 3 pieces of of a supermarket bought cheesecake. Supermarket cheesecakes are fairly easily identified not least from the much smaller radius of the cheesecake (nobody makes that size at home/in a restaurant) and moreover the taste and texture. So it didn't take a detective to see it was from a Supermarket. We raised this with the waiter and asked if it was homemade. Very honestly he explained it was not but he hoped maybe it would be next time.We appreciated the honesty even if it was dissapointing for the price and what one would expect in a bistro. At the end of the meal we raised it with the owner Rob and said it had been a nice meal up to dessert but that we were dissapointed with the supermarket cheesecake. Rob tried to tell us that it was homemade which was an odd stance to take given how obvious it was that it wasn't. He then discredited the waiter by saying that when he told us that it was from the supermarket he was wrong. We found it pretty insulting for the restaurant not only to serve a supermarket cheesecake for £7 a slice, but even more so when rumbled to try and lie to our faces about it. Rob tried to argue that maybe it looked, tasted and had the texture of a supermarket cheesecake as he had overdone the gelatin...Not only did we find this incredibly rude and insulting, lying about where food is from and what it contains could create serious issues if people had allergies etc. After the meal we looker back on previous reviews and interestingly see that at least one other review has raised exactly the same issue last year so this does not appear to be a one-off.
