Staff friendly and service was quick. The food was average, it was like warm and the beef was chewy. Pork was tasteless. I had cheesecake and my sister had the delice they were pretty bland.

We stopped for just one night to break up or journey from Edinburgh to Norfolk and we are only sorry that our stay wasn’t longer!Travelling long distances with a dog and a baby is never easy but the team at St Mary’s Inn were so welcoming and accommodating that we will definitely be visiting again!Huge, spotless bedroom and the food was delicious. St Mary’s Inn is one of the best dog friendly places we have stayed.Would 100% recommend.

Was good under the old owners, now it's great.Fantastic friendly place. Staff were fantastic, quick, chatty, attentive and just generally excellent at their jobs. Food was superb, and it's dog friendly too. So many pooches around. 😍Well worth the five mins from the A1 if you're heading to or from the North.

Only had a drink, the staff are friendly, quick to serve. The surroundings are beautiful, will been going back for a meal at some point.

Visited for late lunch February 2022. Had previously visited when under old owners and did not have a good experience so was interested to see if it has improved. New owners have done a good job at improving the interior, much more comfortable and less echoey than before. Food was very good and arrived quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall pleasantly surprised, would recommend a visit!

Sunday LunchMy wife and I visited St Mary's Inn at 1230pm on the 6th March for Sunday lunch. We had delicious hot starters and mains, thewaitress was polite. We will definitely be back soon. Sandra, the restaurant manager, runs a tight ship and is clearly on top on things. We'll done :-)

Lunch time visit, not very busy after 40 minutes and a second request our drink arrived. Sandwiches took ages very expensive for the amount of steak in the sandwich. I had asked for rare but it wasn't however it wasn't tough and dry , but it was cold. Parmesan cheese chips were bland nearly £29 for two sandwiches chips a soft drink and cup of tea I d expect more value. Won't be going back.

Just been for 4 Christmas lunches with two good friends, all equally enjoyed. Well worth the money, around £25 each, that was lunch, dessert, coffees and tea along with drinks. New owners have made a beautiful job of decor, menus both Christmas and normal have a lot to offer. Staff very polite and very pleasant, next time we may take our pup with us as it's a dog friendly pub.

Came in here for a 70th birthday meal. We chose this place because when we looked on their website, the menu looked varied and reasonably priced. To be fair, the prices were pretty good. However, on arrival we were given a choice of 2 limited menus. My wife and I and our kids are vegetarian, so this left us with a choice of 2 dishes for mains - both pastry based. My wife didn't fancy either, so ended up having soup, veg and mash. When we asked a staff member, we were told that as of 1st December, the menu had changed because of Christmas. It would have been useful to have been informed when booking.I had the curried parsnip soup for a starter, and it was very tasty. However, it was not quite hot enough. The vegetable Wellington main course was decent enough, but again not hot. Everyone else seemed happy enough with their mains.Service was pretty slow, despite it being quiet, and subsequently we had to wait a while for a bottle of wine. The lighting was also a bit too bright for an evening meal, and the place seems to lack atmosphere. Finally, we all ordered coffees, and again they came a tad hotter than lukewarm. All in all, a bit of a disappointment. I would like to try the place again once the menu is back to normal, as there were quite a few things on it that we liked the look of. Finally, as I said before, the price was good, so it wasn't all bad.

Much improved since the new owners have taken over. Staff attentive and pleasant. Service was however a bit slow for lunch time, although is was reasonably busy.Lunch time menu a bit pricey and portions were not that big, but were well presented and tasty. Good choice of drinks also available. Would certainly go back for lunch or evening meal.
