We had two great meals here whilst on holiday in the area. Good menu, especially if you are gluten free.We didn't have to wait long before our food was ready, and it was delicious and good value. Dog friendly too! Definitely recommend and will re-visit if we are in the area again.

Lovely staff, good beer, tasty mussels and fantastic chips...tiny bit more allium needed in sauce but very fresh and well cooked.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner at this gastro pub. Loved the cheese soufflé starter. Good menu and pleasant service. Will go again.

Room was comfortable and food was reasonable. However there were a few issues. There was some confusion when we arrived re checking in but once that was dealt with it was fine . The room was comfortable but too hot. There was no bottles of water and no information in room I.e. who to contact in case of emergency, meal times etc. Breakfast was average and there was no choice of breakfast cereal or jam/marmalade for the toast which arrived on our breakfast plate rather than a side plate.

I came here with my partner for his birthday on Monday night, haven driven from Leeds, and we received THE worst customer service I have ever ever had. We had a reservation at 8:30, booked a taxi for 8:10 as we were staying 10 minutes away. The taxi was late to get us and due to road works on the A1, we arrived at 8:42. To be told the kitchen had shut, the chef probably would only cook us a limited menu and we would need to order immediately, what a welcome! We were rushed to order and it was made very clear due to the amount of dirty looks that were thrown our way from (who I am assuming) was the manager on shift and the barmaid who ‘greeted’ us, that they were not happy with serving us. The table next to us left and as clearing away, the manager very loudly said to the waiter so that we could hear “look at the time, you’d have been gone by this point” - meaning us arriving late. We looked at the time, it was 8:53, 23 minutes after we should have sat down and we wouldn’t have finished anyway?! The whole way through our meal, we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable. Lights were being turned off all around us, keys kept on being thrown down on the bar along with their coats, a big thing was made about mopping the floors and there was several comments made loud enough for us to hear about how unhappy they were we were there eating. My partner and I joked about how they will probably turn the music off before we leave to make it obvious they wanted us gone. Only this joke turned into reality when the music was turned off whilst we were STILL EATING our mains! Shortly after, whilst we had actually finished eating and we were waiting for our plates to be cleared and to have the bill brought to us (which would have been done quicker were they team of 4 not stood around the bar on their phones and talking to each other), Michael BublĂ© came over the speaker singing ‘I want to go home’. As the website states last orders for drinks are at 10:30pm, we had a taxi ordered for 10:50pm. That was the only time our taxi man could pick us up and we were willing to stand in the car park for 5 minutes or so. Only by 9:30, we had been made to feel so uncomfortable and unwanted that we had managed (after calling 6 taxis ranks) to find a taxi that would pick us up earlier. At 9:50 we left, when the pub actually should have been open another 40 minutes. I have never ever had such a disgraceful experience in any restaurant, I am appalled about how we were treated and I would never ever return to such a rude pub. Wasn’t worth the money in the slightest!

We’ve tried to get in several times (on a weekend) over the last year but have never been able to. Finally got a table booked for last night - which was my husband’s birthday. I booked via an online app and in the messages asked if they could possibly do a cake with candles too.We arrived and they had put some birthday bunting up around the table! Not a massive thing but do you know what, they didn’t know us from Adam so to me, I thought it was just lovely of them! The cake was magnificent (if a tad too big!) and the food and service were excellent too. The only negative was there was a draught coming from somewhere and my feet were cold. I’ll wear double socks next time! ;-))We have a holiday home nearby and the last time we tried it (many years ago) we were put off by the rude and unhelpful staff. We said never again and hadn’t been back since. That was then, this is now. We will definitely go back. Thanks again. X

Excellent service and a good meal. Three courses and wine ÂŁ75 for two Pleasant slightly olde world atmosphere. certainly worth repeating

·

Dog friendly pub with a good range of spirits, ales and ciders including a few cocktails. The majority of the menu is Asian inspired and the food was delicious.

Lovely place, feels like whole village has been recently refurbished and feels very classy. 8 minute drive to Bamburgh castle and beach. Price included breakfast over the road which was exceptional.
