The Black Bull in Northumberland

Stayed here for 2 nights, lone female traveller and felt very comfortable and welcome. Harry was a perfect host carrying my case upstairs for me and finding me a table when I forgot to book; Lorna was so warm and friendly at breakfast and even advised a walking route which I took. Rooms were absolutely spotless- I truly believed no one had stayed in mine before, until Lorna said otherwise. Food absolutely delicious, good wine choice and great coffee. Ideal location for Holy Island.

Staying for a few nights room is very nice and just had a meal which was fantastic, having a few drinks in the bar and if the breakfasts are as good as the experience so far then I highly recommend here for a stay.

Beautiful place in a lovely area. Food is amazing top class. Rooms are spotless and high class. Staff are lovely and big Thankyou to Dianne who went out of her way to sort out our room service requests with dinner each evening. Will definitely stay again and will recommend to others.

A brilliant place to stay, room was excellent, service excellent, food was excellent and staff were fabulous, hey were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return.

Went to have our Christmas Dinner with our works team, about 15 people .Staff were attentive and everyone enjoyed their meal. The establishment itself was clean and the decor was nice.

Absolutely first class bedrooms, ours was very spacious, luxurious and spotless, with a six-foot wide double bed and very comfortable mattress.The staff are attentive, friendly, and efficient.There are several small restaurant rooms, and spacing is good.The food is excellent too.What more can one want?

The food here is excellent. Well priced quality meals with daily specials and a really interesting g main menu....not tried starters or desserts, large portions!!The beef and venison burgers were outstanding and the cod was the size of a small whale!! With no compromise on quality or deliciousness - been twice in a week while visiting the area - highly recommend the food and staff are very friendly and helpful

10/10 for this place. Just got back from a really great relaxing night away. My partner and I got engaged so I called the Black Bull in advance to see if they could assist with celebration as a surprise. They could not have been more accommodating and helpful and went above and beyond what I hoped for!In addition to the amazing staff was the excellent food and spacious and clean room.100% will be back. Thanks again for making our engagement so special!

Visited with friends down for a holiday. Booked ahead and arrived on time to find everything all ready for us. As it was a nice day we asked if we sat outside to have our drinks and place our orders, and young man came to tell us when our food was nearly ready, giving us time to move inside and get settled. Two steaks, pork chop and venison sausages were all very generously sized portions and very tasty. Only slight complaint was the vegetables were very 'al dente' to the point of being closer to raw. Given the portion sizes, we were too full to attempt dessert, but it looked very appealing on the table opposite ours. Will definitely be back to try.

Stopped for an evening meal whilst visiting Northumberland. It is a popular restaurant and the tables inside and out were all busy. The staff were great, really friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic, a nice variety of fresh local produce and regular favourites as well as a kids menu. Our meals tasted great and were prepared quickly. Desserts were very more-ish. Prices reasonable. Would strongly recommend, but also suggest booking via the website to make sure you can get in.
