Lovely room, staff friendly. Breakfast great and the evening meal we had was great, BUT, the soup was advertised as mushroom, but was green and didn't taste of mushroom. We mentioned it and no explanation was given, the following day a guest ordered the soup of the day (broccoli!) And was told they think it's actually run out, but he could have mushroom!. We also heard the chef shouting because a guest had dared order a steak, well done, saying that it would ruin it and that's not how you have it!! The next morning all we could hear in the restaurant at breakfast was the chef singing and carrying on!

Fantastic afternoon teaThe amount of food we had was unbelievable. Very well presented. Freshly made. Included was sandwiches, soup, scones with cream and jam ,numerous cakes obviously made in house. We were seated in the library in front of a roaring fire. I would recommend the Collingwood for afternoon tea. I think it is hard to beat.

We booked a last minute Sunday roast and managed to get one of the last two slots. Very accommodating and had a high seat ready for our 9 month old. The food was excellent! Salmon fish cake starter had a proper amount of salmon in it (most places you go to it’s normally 90% mash!), beef shin terrine was incredible, and the roast borders lamb just perfect. I think we’ve found our go-to Sunday lunch spot in the Borders. Thank you

It's a great place super staff, nice setting, well appointed and one of the best in the Borders. The food is ok, not great not poor but just ok. A little wow would be good for all of us.One bug bear, stop the trendy plates, nice plain glazed smooth chinaware..not scratchy and awkward to eat out of.

Lovely accomodation lived up to its luxurious description delivered by a quietly attentive team. Great breakfast too.

I was really looking forward to dinning here last night. I was accompanying my elderly mother who was meeting some very old friends, who hadn't had a catch up for over two year's. The staff were very helpful and the place had a nice atmosphere, but the food was Disappointing, my mother ordered Fish and Chips it was tasteless and the chips were far too big. I ordered the lamb which was very nice but the whole meal wasn't hot and looked like it had sat under a light. The other two ladies enjoyed there's. Think twice about going back
