Nice building and lovely people. In desperate need of TLC (and attention in general).Good budget choice if you want to stay in Rothbury, spacious rooms.

The room was good. The breakfast needed attention to detail, items on menu not available, had to ask for side plate etc, I don't how many times we overheard the staff saying sorry to guests about various things. We stayed for 7nights but only had an evening meal twice because the dinner menu was limited but what we did have for dinner was very good.

Really nice food and very dog friendly. The lovely lady as waitress who was very busy but kept checking and bringing you anything you needed. Our dog got dog treats and a water bowl which she was very happy with.

Had the 3 course meal me and Partner £10.95 each. It was excellent sat outside on the Terrace. Jamie the Manager very Pleasant

Very pleasant staff new owner very pleasant breakfast not the best room clean needs updated flys has you come in off the river bank they cover the door to the hotel. And that was a bug bearing. But all in all it was clean tidy and staff pleasant. They need more training but this is down to management.

We stayed at the Coquetvale Hotel for two nights. Our first impression wasn’t good…the main door was covered in tiny flies, inside and out and remained like that for the whole stay. The carpet up to the reception area was filthy. On arrival the staff were pleasant and friendly and we were show to our room (no.3). It was large with a super king and a single. Actually the ‘super king’ was two single beds pushed together with a gap in the middle (no topper) and we can say without hesitation it was the most uncomfortable bed we’ve slept in! We could feel all the springs and one of the beds had a big dip in it! The bathroom was very shabby…a lot of the grout was mouldy, the shower curtain was black at the bottom, the loo lid and seat were chipped and the one toilet roll was the thinnest, cheapest we’ve seen! The hotel is in serious need of sound proofing! We heard people cleaning their teeth, go to the loo, showering, chatting and the stud wall behind our bed shook every time somebody walked past or doors were closed. The bar (below us) played loud music until 12.30pm.On a positive note we enjoyed the meal in the bar on one of the nights of pizza and potato skins. The vegetarian breakfast was mediocre.Rothbury is lovely and we will definitely return but not to this hotel. We paid £210 and feel completely ripped off!

Our first visit a few weeks ago wasn't very impressive. However this was obviously just initial teething problems that have now been rectified. The food was fantastic and amazing value for money. It was delivered by friendly, helpful staff who attended to us well all night. Highly recommended.

Good accomodation rooms clean and spacious even at top of house. No good for people who have difficulty with stairs, access to hotel even up flight of stairsLimited parking. Service at time of visit not good ,housekeeping hit and miss no apparent cleaning in public spaces whist there. Needs some decorating and care in restaurant and bar. However good situation for Rothbury and surrounding areas. Needs more staff and management presence on daily basis. Those present at our visit however very welcoming and obliging.

Young staff brill.no welcome had to guess who it was thought it was a customer sitting down.Food very poor! decor in room unfinished.Without writing an essay it was a bad experience but my company was fantastic and location beautiful.Chef must’ve had a real bad day to serve that up.Will be back to rothbury but not here . Sorry

A very impressive building in a lovely location. A warm welcome greeted us and we were shown to our room. The room itself needed a lot of TLC and to have no coat hangers in the wardrobe was a bit disappointing. I know I could have asked for some but I really shouldn't have to. The room eventually became quiet and I had a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. We didn't stay for breakfast as we had an early start. I would stay again but perhaps in a different room.
