The Dirty Bottles in Northumberland
Where is The Dirty Bottles?
š The Olde Cross, 32 Narrowgate, Alnwick NE66 1JG
"The Dirty Bottles ā or as the locals in Alnwick, Northumberland say it āThi Dorty Bottlesā ā pub has been open for over two centuries and the building is thought to have been constructed in the 1600ās. The pub was previously called Ye Old Cross Inn but due to the famous āCurse of the Dirty Bottlesā, said bottles remained untouched in one of the front windows and a sign was affixed at the window, which read āDirty Bottlesā, so most local Alnwick folk adopted that name and we have continued with that tradition. Serving amazing food, cocktails and local beers this iconic Freehouse also has 9 hotel bedrooms. Booking is always advised as we get very busy."

When ever we go for a trip to Alnwick we always go here. Good is expensive but good! However, we arrived at 12-15. Only two tables of 4 were taken. We didnāt book, bit we never do? The gentleman in front of us was complaining about something? There were 4 members of staff around the till⦠Alnwick was very quiet, unusable for this time of year? A bank holiday. The girl on the till was very abrupt!!! And told us that there was no tables available for two hours??? I canāt believe this when the town was so quiet .. the attitude of the staff wasnāt very nice⦠we wonāt be going back there again!! Very disappointedā¦..

Another recommendation from Coastal Custodian .Fantastic and easy location to findIn Alnwick with easy , ample parking.Good cocktail menu, and selection of craft aleās. Dog friendly which makes this a great place to eat .Warm welcome by staff , and seated promptly. Menu was varied and appetising .I chose the hanging kebabs as the main .Freshly prepared and presented very well - tasted delicious.I ate at lunch time , but anticipate it would get busy at dinner time ( so might be worth reserving a table ).Looking forward to my next visit to try another offering from the menu . Well worth a visit .

This was an absolutely incredible family lunch as part of a week celebrating Dad's 60th. They were accommodating for us as a large walk-in group, with a dog no less! The staff were incredibly friendly, catered to everything we asked and it was an excellent value for money. Would highly recommend this place.

The food was nice, the portions were massive (we were a bit overwhelmed by the mains!) but good, and the drinks were tasty and strong. The atmosphere is cosy and homey, and the sunny day, sitting next to the window, really put the whole experience together. Great place to grab lunch or dinner especially if hungry.

Went for lunch midweek. Have past several times but never ventured in. So today was the day. The inside of the restaurant was quirky yet inkeeping with Alnwick. Stone walled with flowers draped around the restaurant. I ordered the mac and Cheese hog dog with pancetta over the top. There was also the meat tray ordered and the hanging kebabs out of my group.Food was very tasty and I would recommend the 'burnt ends' if ordering sides.Service was fairly quick. Very friendly and would definitely recommend.Price wise, for what you get it's very reasonable. The toilets are immaculate, with a sink inside of a toilet cubicle.very stylish.Definitely will be going back and trying something new.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February and from start to finish had a splendid time. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and were there to cater for our every need. Room was gorgeous and felt 5 star. Food downstairs in the restaurant/bar was delicious and there were a good selection of beers, ciders and wine. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

There is a good display from when you enter the building. They are 2 entrances, 1 from the high street and the other alleyway. Food was delivered quickly from when we ordered, staff mentioned back log for cocktails and honoured the 2for1 happy hour deal. Top quality food with reasonable portion sizes, Harry Porter them throughout the area

Food and service here is still outstanding since the new menu. The renovation is simply gorgeous and we were lucky enough to get the table next to the log burner.Staff are very helpful and friendly.Dinner was delicious. Still can't get over the burnt ends!Definitely recommend.

Every time we come here we love the food and the service. Come hungry because they serve up huge portions of tasty food. Today I ordered 2 sides - Mac & Cheese and Sticky Smoked in house Pit Beans. More than enough food and it was extremely tasty. My wife and daughter ordered (the best!) Sweet potato fries and Pea & Spinach Croquettes.

We popped into this lovely pub for lunch. It is the first time we have visited but we certainly weren't disappointed. We ordered light bite baguettes, which were very generous portions. The drinks were also reasonably priced and local. We will definitely return.
